Now you will be harmed, how does it cause harm? In reality, the moment of the present mind is not the present itself, because it is dependent, just like the moment of past desire, this is the view of the Sutra school. In order to follow up with a speculative explanation, how does it cause harm? Lhasbyin's desire is not the cause of Lhasbyin's attachment, because it is desire, like the desire of other continuums. These are respectively the subject, the property to be established, the property of proof, and the example, arranged in order. For example, the desire for offering alms of other continuums is not the cause of Lhasbyin's attachment, because it is a desire. Similarly, Lhasbyin's desire, which is not of other continuums, is also a desire, therefore it is the cause of Lhasbyin's attachment. Here, other debaters say that the desire for offering alms is the cause of Lhasbyin's attachment, because when offering alms is combined with the object of desire, it makes Lhasbyin's desire function more strongly. In order to refute this previous view, the commentator says: Attachment upon desire, whether it exists or not, the order is the same. Here, there is no room for debate on distinguishing the order of before and after, because it does not show a seemingly valid reason. Here, other debaters believe that it is unreasonable to distinguish the order of before and after between desire and attachment, because here it is to show that the non-common cause is negated, so the reasons of the Madhyamaka school stated by other debaters do not show that they are seemingly valid. Among the three analyses of attachment, it has been proven that the second case, which is to think that attachment exists based on the attachment that exists after desire, is unreasonable. Now, in the three analyses of desire, the third case, which is to think that desire exists based on the simultaneous existence of attachment and desire, and in the three analyses of attachment, based on the simultaneous existence of desire and attachment

Thus, in order to refute the third view, which holds that desire and attachment arise simultaneously, we need to prove that both of these views are unreasonable. Therefore, if someone thinks that, in order to avoid faults, desire and attachment should arise simultaneously, then let me explain. If the opponent thinks that there is a sequence between desire and attachment, just like the four faults mentioned earlier, in order to avoid these faults, there is no sequence between desire and attachment. Because they arise simultaneously, relying on each other, there is both desire and attachment, thus revealing afflictions and their faults. Therefore, our argument is established, and the aggregates, elements, and sense bases are truly existent in the ultimate truth. If someone thinks this way, that is also unreasonable. Therefore, the commentator, through phrases such as "Listen, listen to this too," elucidates the reasons for refuting the simultaneous arising of desire and attachment. Listen, listen to the reason for refuting the simultaneous arising of desire and attachment; this is a summary statement. "Desire and attachment should not arise simultaneously." This means that desire and attachment should not arise simultaneously. Why? Because, when examining this view, "Thus, desire and attachment will become mutually independent." Why is it said that desire and attachment should not arise simultaneously? Because, according to the opponent's idea, there is no sequence between desire and attachment; they arise simultaneously. If this view is examined, such a fault will occur: if desire and attachment arise simultaneously, "Desire and attachment, like Devadatta and Yajnadatta, their own nature established, arising simultaneously, will become mutually independent." If desire and attachment arise simultaneously, like Devadatta and Yajnadatta, their respective natures are established, arising simultaneously, then they will become mutually independent. To illustrate mutual independence, it is said, "This attachment's desire is this, this desire is attached to this, because there is no dependence." If they are mutually independent in this way, then there will be attachment without desire, and there will be desire without attachment. If this is the case, then the statements "This attachment's desire is this, this desire is attached to this" are unreasonable. If these statements are unreasonable, then desire also
