If someone says, "The example is not established," then, in conventional truth, due to the fault of Devadatta's (Lhas byin) wisdom mind being different from all other minds, to cause harm to you, this is also shown to be not good. Through "The Arhat's mind is also not established as having continuity and non-continuity," this is to show that the previous Lokayata (worldly materialists) said, "How can it be said that there is no future life, now it is said that Devadatta's dying mind does not continue with other minds, because it is a dying mind, just like the dying mind of an Arhat." This example is not established. Thus, the sutras do not show that the Tathagata exists after Nirvana, does not exist after Nirvana, both exists and does not exist after Nirvana, or neither exists nor does not exist after Nirvana. Therefore, the Arhat's dying mind is also not established as having continuity and non-continuity, and since the opponent's example is not established, this is also not good. Through "Because there is a fault of the example established in ultimate truth being incomplete," this is to show that the previous opponent said, "In ultimate truth, Devadatta's wisdom is also not different from all other minds, because it is a mind, just like Devadatta's wisdom." This example is not established. Since Devadatta's wisdom is not established in ultimate truth, the opponent's argument has the fault of the example being incomplete, so this is also not good. If someone says, "In conventional truth, if the uncontaminated mind is taken as a tenet, then it is an established argument," this is to say that if the opponent says, "In the conventional agreement of conventional truth, we take the uncontaminated dying mind as a tenet that does not continue with other minds, and we promise that it is not a separate entity," then this is already established for the tenet of the Buddhists, so it is an established argument and is not allowed. Through "The dying mind of the previous life is also uncertain whether it continues with others," this is to explain that the previous opponent said, "How can it be said that there is no future life, like this it is said here, Devadatta's dying mind..."

Because the mind does not connect with another, because it is the mind at the time of death, like the mind of an Arhat at the time of death, the reason stated in this way shows that it is uncertain. Because here, it is seen that the mind at the time of death in the previous life also connects with other minds born in this life. Therefore, for the time being, because it is the mind at the time of death, like the mind of an Arhat at the time of death, does it not connect? Or because it is the mind at the time of death, like the mind at the time of death in the previous life, it will connect, which is uncertain, so the other party's reason has the fault of being uncertain. If it is said that it is also because it is a tenet, there is no fault, it is called: The other party says, we who say that there is no afterlife, the mind at the time of death in the previous life does not connect with other minds, that is also because it is a tenet. There is no incompatible tenet, so there is no fault of the reason being uncertain, these are the words said. In order to answer what was said in this way, it is explained here that, for the tenet of slandering the afterlife, because the mind at the time of death in the previous life is not established, it should not be taken as its tenet. For the tenet of denying the world, because there is no previous or subsequent life, the mind at the time of death in the previous life is not established. Therefore, it should not be taken as its tenet, because the basis is not established. By saying that the examination is enough, it shows the end of the above chapters.
