Due to the intention to show that the nature of desire and attachment, hatred and aversion, etc., are all empty, the treatise called "Sixth Differentiation" is proclaimed. The meaning of the sixth differentiation of examining desire and attachment, which appears from the following text, is to show that the nature of desire and attachment, hatred and aversion, etc., are all empty. Therefore, when composing the sixth differentiation here, also because an explanation is to be made, in terms of the meaning combined with the content appearing below, due to the intention to show that the nature of desire and attachment, hatred and aversion, etc., are all empty, the treatise called "Sixth Differentiation" is proclaimed. The so-called "desire" is a different name for attachment and special attachment, etc. The so-called "attachment" refers to the arising of desire, etc., on its five aggregates. The so-called "hatred" is a different name for hater and angry person, etc. The so-called "aversion" refers to the arising of hatred, etc., on its five aggregates. The word "etc." includes all afflictions and afflicted ones such as ignorance and delusion, etc. So, what is the result of this sixth differentiation? In what way can that result be obtained? Showing that the nature of desire and attachment, hatred and aversion, etc., are all empty is the result of this sixth differentiation. That result can be obtained by refuting the differences of the side that is contrary to emptiness. Therefore, because an explanation is to be made, only the method and the initial result arising from the method are shown at the connection point of the differentiation. In order to show what is said as "the difference of the side contrary to emptiness," therefore, here it is said "said," etc. Even though the aggregates, elements, and sources have been refuted in that way, the people of their own sect who have obvious attachment to them cannot bear it, so they will say this again, and this is how it should be connected. Therefore, from the ultimate truth, the aggregates, elements, and sources are truly existent, because the Bhagavan showed afflictions and faults, etc., based on them, so he said, etc. Those dharmas

Having... the Dharma to be cultivated, and the Dharma of cultivation, should be combined in order. Here, for something that does not exist, the Blessed One did not rely on it to explain all afflictions and faults. For example, like turtle hair, this is an example of something that is not in accordance with the Dharma. The Blessed One, relying on the aggregates and so on, said: Because of attachment, dharmas are not known; because of attachment, dharmas are not seen; whoever cultivates attachment, at that time darkness turns into extreme darkness. Because of hatred, dharmas are not known; because of hatred, dharmas are not seen; whoever cultivates hatred, at that time darkness turns into extreme darkness. Because of delusion, dharmas are not known; because of delusion, dharmas are not seen; whoever cultivates delusion, at that time darkness turns into extreme darkness. Thus, explaining all afflictions and faults, this is a close combination of combinations. So, what are all afflictions? What are the faults? Because of attachment, dharmas are not known; because of attachment, dharmas are not seen. These are all afflictions. Whoever cultivates attachment, at that time darkness turns into extreme darkness. These are faults, as stated in the scriptures: going from darkness to darkness, going from darkness to light, going from light to darkness, going from light to light, the four types of individuals mentioned, are combined with going from darkness to darkness. Alternatively, because of attachment, dharmas are not known; because of attachment, dharmas are not seen; at that time darkness turns into extreme darkness. These are faults. Whoever cultivates attachment. These are all afflictions. Or, because of attachment, this is all afflictions. Dharmas are not known, not seen, whoever cultivates attachment, at that time darkness turns into extreme darkness. These are faults. Cultivating means arising and accepting, and the rest should be combined accordingly. Therefore, based on the reasons mentioned above, the aggregates, elements, and sources exist, this is the conclusion and the measure of...
