To show the way to abandon the two extremes, to show its source, it is said in the Sutra Pitaka: 'As long as the mind's field of activity, it also turns to the extremes of existence and non-existence, when the field of activity ceases, the mind also truly ceases.' etc. Similarly, not falling into the real, it is not because there is no real that any dharma is not real.' etc., as it is said. Here, in order to show the source of what the teacher himself said in other treatises, the teacher himself also said in others: 'This is to prevent existence, not to fully grasp non-existence, when saying not black, it is not said to be white.' It has been said like this. The venerable teacher Nagarjuna himself said so when he composed the treatise 'Examination of the World': For example, when someone says it is not black, he has only prevented black, but has not indicated that it is white, similarly, here also, by preventing non-existence, it only shows the prevention of existence, by preventing non-being, it does not indicate non-existence, so it is not a nihilistic view. Therefore, those two ways are all evil views, etc., with the view of existence and non-existence, those two ways are the views of permanence and annihilation, so both are evil views. If you look at it that way, you will not see the ultimate truth, which shows the beginning of the following verses. Why are those two ways all evil views? Because it is an obstacle for the wise to want to attain the bliss of peace by extinguishing all elaborations. The yogi wise man wants to attain the bliss of Buddhahood by extinguishing all discriminating elaborations in the ultimate truth, and the obstacle is clinging to the two extremes. How to cling? In order to show how clinging to the two extremes becomes an obstacle for the wise to want to attain the bliss of peace by extinguishing all elaborations. First, in order to show how clinging to the extreme of existence becomes its obstacle. Here, in the ultimate truth, if it is considered that there is form and formlessness

If it is said that actions, supramundane things, virtuous things, non-virtuous things, and indeterminate things, if they become the very nature of attaining selfhood by whatever means they can be designated, and so on. It is said that actions in the desire realm refer to giving and so on. Actions in the form realm refer to the four meditations and so on. Actions in the formless realm refer to the four absorptions and so on. Supramundane things refer to the Noble Eightfold Path and so on. Virtuous things refer to the paths of the ten virtuous actions, such as abandoning killing and so on. Non-virtuous things refer to the paths of the ten non-virtuous actions, such as killing and so on. Indeterminate things refer to those born from ripening and so on. If these, in the ultimate sense, become the very nature of attaining selfhood by whatever means they can be designated. That is to say, if actions in the desire realm and so on, in the ultimate sense, if by what means accomplishing the act of giving and so on, accomplishing meditations and so on, accomplishing absorptions and so on, cultivating the Noble Eightfold Path and so on, and accomplishing virtuous, non-virtuous, and indeterminate things, by whatever means they can be designated, they are the very nature of attaining selfhood, and they become existent in nature. If that is the case, then what hindrance would there be? Therefore, striving to generate virtuous and non-virtuous dharmas, and to not generate them, becomes meaningless, because they exist, just as pots and cloths exist. It is said that these are also transformed in order into subject, object to be proven, means of proof, and example. For example, pots and cloths exist, and because they exist, striving to generate and not generate them is meaningless. Similarly, if virtuous and non-virtuous dharmas, by whatever means they can be designated, exist as the very nature of attaining selfhood, because they exist, striving to generate virtuous dharmas, and to not generate non-virtuous dharmas

Therefore, effort will become meaningless, so the view of existence is an obstacle to the bliss of the complete pacification of all the sophistry of the wise. Those who have happiness, the difference of happiness will not disappear; those who have suffering, the difference of suffering will not disappear. Like a painting on a wall, the differences in the age, size, and behavior of beings will not have arising and ceasing. This is the conclusion and the result of valid cognition. If it is thought that way, then actions and so on, in the ultimate sense, if in any way that can be nominally designated, also obtain the nature of self-nature and exist. If the virtues and non-virtues arise and do not arise, effort will become meaningless, then sentient beings who have happiness and suffering, the difference between happiness and suffering will not disappear. Like a painting on a wall, the differences in the age, size, and behavior of beings will not have arising and ceasing, so the view of the extreme of existence is an obstacle to the bliss of the complete pacification of all the sophistry of the wise, so it is the only wrong view. Now, in order to show how the view of the extreme of non-existence is its obstacle, if the three realms, transcendence, virtue, non-virtue, and the unindicated, etc., are non-existent in nature, and so on. If in the ultimate sense, in desire, form, and formlessness, actions and transcendence, virtue, non-virtue, and the unindicated, etc., if in the conventional sense, also only in the way of nominally designating in any way, they do not exist. If that is the case, how is that an obstacle? If that is the case, then the effort of arising and not arising of virtues and non-virtues will become meaningless. Because it does not exist, for example, like trying to make a rabbit's horn sharp. These should also be related to the subject, the to-be-established dharma, the establishing dharma, and the example in order. For example, the rabbit's horn does not exist, because it does not exist, so trying to make it sharp or dull
