It is said, "Answering and speaking." The proponents of things say this to the Madhyamikas: "From the ultimate truth, the internal sources of arising are only arising, because they are the cause of some joy and complete suffering, just like a pot and so on." And, "From the ultimate truth, the internal sources of arising are only substantially existent, because they are beneficial, just like nirvana." Like this, establishing later conceptualizations, thereby answering and speaking. "By that, all are not answered." To show this, it is said, "By that, those all are not answered," connecting and saying: "Those answers of the proponents of things, all did not answer the Madhyamikas." "Becoming the same as what is to be proven." To show this, it is said, "Because it becomes the same as what is to be proven." Why did those answers not answer the Madhyamikas? Because the reason and example of his later conceptualizations, because they become the same as what is to be proven, they are not established. Why does it turn out to be the same as what is to be proven? Because his establishing reason and example, because they are not established as being the same as what is to be proven, the later conceptualization is not established, thinking like this. Saying this: The ultimate truth is that the sources of arising are substantially existent, that establishing reason and example, "Because it is the cause of some joy and complete suffering, just like a pot and so on," and "Because it is beneficial, just like nirvana," those, the sources of arising that the Madhyamikas want to establish, because they are not established as being the same as not being established in the ultimate truth, the later conceptualization is not established, thinking like this. How the sources of arising are not established as arising in the ultimate truth, and are not established as substantially existent, similarly in the ultimate truth, "Because it is the cause of some joy and complete suffering," and the word "pot," and the word "because it is beneficial," and the word "nirvana," those are also not established, so the later conceptualization is not established, all dharmas are unborn.

Since it is neither an inherently existent entity nor a substance, there is neither reason nor example, so it is not a response. Please understand it that way. Similarly, the verse "If explained by emptiness, whoever finds fault and speaks, that person does not find fault with everything, but becomes the same as what needs to be proven" also indicates this. Here, when the Madhyamika explains that things are without inherent existence through emptiness, if any opponent finds fault and argues with non-emptiness, then all their fault-finding is not fault-finding of the Madhyamika. Why? Because it becomes the same as what needs to be proven. For example, if the Madhyamika asserts that all things are empty of inherent existence, and to show an example of what needs to be proven, when explaining that the aggregates, etc., are empty of inherent existence, if any proponent of existence finds fault and argues that the aggregates, etc., are only existent because they are included by truth, etc., then all their fault-finding is not fault-finding of the Madhyamika. Why? Because those who find fault and argue that the aggregates, etc., are only existent because they are included by truth, etc., also become the same as the aggregates, etc., which need to be proven, that is, empty of inherent existence. To illustrate the phrase "If explained by emptiness," when pointing out that the aggregates, elements, and sources are without inherent existence, it is said, "When distinguishing the connection with emptiness and explaining." Connect it to "When the Madhyamika explains with emptiness to those who assert existence." If asked, when does the Madhyamika explain with emptiness to those who assert existence? It is said, "When pointing out that the aggregates, elements, and sources are without inherent existence." When understanding the true characteristics of all phenomena, the aggregates, elements, and sources

It is when showing the absence of inherent existence. If the Madhyamikas, when analyzing those who assert the existence of things, in what way do they do it? The answer is, with emptiness. In order to show emptiness, it is said, "When distinguishing the arguments and analyzing." In the context of the previous verse, it was said, "When arguing with emptiness." Here, the same argument is distinguished as "When arguing with emptiness," this is the time of analysis. In order to show "whoever makes accusations and speaks," it is said, "Whoever, with a reversed measure, corrupts the intellect, thinking that the aggregates and so on are truly existent, because they are included by the truths and so on," like this, making accusations and speaking. Connect "whoever asserts the existence of things accuses and speaks to the Madhyamikas." If those who assert the existence of things, with what proof do they accuse and speak to the Madhyamikas? The answer is, "Whoever, with a reversed measure, corrupts the intellect, thinking that the aggregates and so on are truly existent, because they are included by the truths and so on," like this, making accusations and speaking. Here, too, the argument of "whoever answers and speaks" in the context of the previous verse should be distinguished, that is, "whoever makes accusations and speaks." Those who assert the existence of things, with a reversed measure combined with bad treatises, corrupt their intellect, and thus accuse the Madhyamikas, saying: "In ultimate truth, the aggregates are truly existent, because they are included by the noble truths; in ultimate truth, the elements and sense bases are truly existent, because they are included by the aggregates and so on." Like this, they make accusations and speak. In order to show "he did not refute everything," it is said, "He did not refute and rebut all of these." Here, too, the argument of "he did not answer everything" in the context of the previous verse should be distinguished, that is, "he did not refute everything."
