If one truly believes that the causes of form, such as earth, etc., exist. If that is the case, then by admitting that the causes of form, such as earth, etc., are different from form and have become other, then the causes of form, such as earth, etc., will become fruitless. Because the characteristics of the fruit, such as form and sound, etc., that arise are without inherent existence in the ultimate sense. But the arising of the causes of form, such as earth, etc., is believed to be truly existent. However, if one believes that the fruit, such as form, etc., exists conventionally, and the causes, such as earth, etc., exist ultimately. If that is the case, then it is not the cause of form, because it is other. For example, resin, etc., is other than form, therefore it is not the cause of form. Similarly, if earth, etc., is also ultimately existent, because it is other than conventional form, it is not the cause of form. It has not been seen that a cause exists without a fruit. Therefore, "There is no cause without a fruit" means that it is considered to be the nature of the aggregation of form, etc. Therefore, the cause of earth, etc., is also the nature of the aggregation of form, etc., so it is considered to be without inherent existence in the ultimate sense. Therefore, because the fruit is not established in the same way as the cause. Because the fruit of those exists, therefore the meaning of the reason previously stated has the fault of not being established. That is to say, the cause, such as earth, etc., is also the nature of the aggregation of form, etc., therefore, it is considered to be without inherent existence in the ultimate sense. Therefore, the cause, such as earth, etc., is also not established, and the fruit, such as form, etc., is also not established in the ultimate sense. Previously, others said that earth, etc., exists in the ultimate sense, because the fruit of those exists. The meaning of the reason stated in this way has the fault of not being established in any way. If one says again that fame is the reason itself, then it is contradictory in meaning. That is to say, if in order to avoid the fault that the meaning of the reason is not established in any way, the Madhyamaka school and the opponent themselves also admit that the fruit of those earth, etc., exists conventionally, therefore it is fame.

If it is said that this is the established reason, then it contradicts the meaning of what you truly establish, because your reason has been refuted by those means, this is the concluding word. There is also another answer to the refutation, if one examines the cause of form here, is it examining whether form exists or does not exist? Because it is said that neither of the two situations is reasonable, this shows another answer to refute the unreasonableness of the cause of form. "Here" refers to the ultimate meaning. If one examines the cause of form, such as earth and other elements, which are considered as causes in the ultimate meaning, to exist, if one examines whether causes and so on exist in the ultimate meaning in the case of form existing or not existing, then this shows the statement that both sides are unreasonable. Even if form exists, the cause of form is not reasonable. Because it exists, for example, just as a vase and cloth exist. This shows that in the case of form existing, the cause of form is unreasonable, because form exists, for example, just as a vase and cloth exist, their cause is unreasonable. What if it does not exist? Even if form does not exist, the cause of form is not reasonable. What is meant is that earth and so on are desired, because they do not exist before arising, just like something different from that. This is what is meant. If form does not exist, the cause of form is also not reasonable. What is the meaning of the phrase "the cause is also not reasonable"? It means that earth and so on, which are considered as causes, are also not reasonable. Why? Because form does not exist before arising, at the time when it has not arisen. For example, just as things that do not exist, such as sky flowers and so on, which are different from the non-existent form, it is unreasonable to have a cause. Here, by repeating the refutation that was previously stated, one should understand the way of expressing the refutation, that is: Even if form exists, the cause of form is not reasonable. Even if form does not exist, the cause of form is not reasonable. In this case, previously in the analysis of conditions, "For things that do not exist or exist, conditions are not suitable, if they do not exist, what would they become a condition for? If they exist, what would conditions do?" This shows the refutation.
