Speaking from the aspect of expression, expression itself is not the point. Those who aspire to be skilled in the ways of enumeration say, "You say that earth and so forth are not other than form and so forth." Since they have accepted that they are not other, then it can be known that earth and so forth are truly existent in reality, because they are not other than form and so forth, just like the nature of form and so forth itself. This is said by those who hold the tenets of Samkhya, aspiring to be skilled in the tenets of Samkhya, which arise from nature, energy, and particles, because the nature of darkness is constant and all-pervading, so all things are one. They say to the Madhyamikas, "Madhyamikas, you also accept the four great elements of earth and so forth, and you also accept forms that have form and so forth as their cause. And you also say that earth and so forth are not other." Therefore, in terms of meaning, since you have accepted that earth and so forth are not other than form and so forth, that they are one, then it can be known that earth and so forth are truly existent in reality, because they are not other than form and so forth, just like the nature of form and so forth itself. They say this, and their proofs are also connected in order with the subject, the predicate to be proven, the proving predicate, and the example. For example, the nature of form and so forth itself is not other than form and so forth, therefore it can be known to be truly existent in reality, similarly, earth and so forth are also not other than form and so forth, therefore it can be known to be truly existent in reality. They say this. In response to what they say, here, by way of explanation, it is shown that because non-otherness is not established, the meaning of the reason is not established. The example is also non-existent, because the nature of form and so forth itself has been refuted. I have said before, just as earth and so forth are not other than form and so forth, similarly, earth and so forth are not not other than form and so forth, because non-otherness will be explained below.

And also to prevent, and because it is not otherness, milk will also become yogurt, or yogurt will also become milk, which is permissible. Therefore, "In oneness and otherness, just as children discriminate, things are not other in nature, and there is nothing outside of the collection." As it is said, in the way it is shown, oneness and otherness are prevented, therefore, because the otherness of the Samkhyas is not established, none of your reasons are established. Your example also does not exist, because in the ultimate sense, the self-nature of form, etc., is refuted. For me, like the self-nature of form, etc., such an example is not established, therefore you also have the fault of the subject of the example not being established. Others say that in the ultimate sense, earth, etc., exist, because they have results. Here, whatever does not exist does not have a result, like a flower in the sky. Earth, etc., have results, i.e., form, etc., therefore, earth, etc., exist. This is the opponent Establishing that the cause, earth, etc., exists through the door of having results, i.e., form, etc. Their argument is also, in order, the subject, the property to be established, the establishing property, the example of the dissimilar class, the combination, and the conclusion. In response to what is said, the commentator says here, "If there is a cause of form apart from form, then it becomes a fruitless cause, and there is no fruitless cause." etc. From our side, if there is a cause of form, earth, etc., apart from form, then it will become a fruitless cause, because it will become a cause without the nature of form, etc. Because it is otherness, like castor beans, etc. For us Madhyamikas, form, which arises from the great elements in the ultimate sense, has been established as being without self-nature. If you, apart from form,
