Like the self-nature of earth and so on, these are also related in order to the subject, the dharma to be proven, the dharma of proof, and the example. For example, like the self-nature of earth and so on, if the self-nature of the color and shape of the parts of their respective aggregates are not taken, then there is no knowing of earth and so on, therefore they are not different from the parts of their respective aggregates. Similarly, the form that is the cause, if the parts of its respective aggregates, such as earth and so on, are not taken, then there is no knowing of the form that is the cause, therefore it is not different from the parts of its respective aggregates. Here, others say, here you Madhyamikas take form as the subject, because there is no discrimination for form, so there is no grasping, therefore your reason "if it is not taken, there is no knowing" is not established. For example, sound is impermanent, because it is visible to the eye, just as the reason for saying this is not established, your reason "form is not different from the parts of its respective aggregates" is also not established. Why? Because "if it is not taken" is the dharma of knowing, if here knowing is taken as the subject, then if knowing does not take the self-cause of form, because there is no knowing of form, so form is not different from the parts of its respective aggregates, it can be said like this, but "if it is not taken" is not the dharma of form, and here form is taken as the subject, from form if the self-cause of form is not taken, because there is no knowing of form, so form is not different from the parts of its respective aggregates, the meaning of such a reason is not established. In order to answer the previous view that said this, here an explanation is made. Here, because it is thought that the action exists on the object, it is said that "not taking" is the dharma of knowing, therefore the meaning of the reason is not not established. Like this, the action exists in two aspects, for example, just as the action of cutting exists on the cutter and the cut object, the action of not taking also exists on the knowing of the actor and the object form, from these aspects, here it is thought that the action of not taking exists on the object form, therefore "not taking" is not the dharma of the object form.

Because it is the dharma of the mind of the agent, therefore the meaning of my reason is not unestablished. Thus showing, as the opponent says, if "unseized" is the dharma of form, then if form does not seize its own cause, because there is no consciousness of form, then the meaning of this reason will also become unestablished. Here, I think that the action of "unseized" that I said is abiding on form, because "unseized" is the dharma of the agent's mind, if consciousness does not seize the cause of form, because there is no consciousness of form, form is not other than the limbs of its own aggregate, so the meaning of this reason is not unestablished. The Samkhyas say that from form etc., earth etc. are not other, so this is not proving what is already established. The Samkhyas say that in our treatises, because the nature of courage, dust and darkness is constant and all-pervading, all things are not other, but are already established as one, so your Madhyamikas say that "form is not other than the limbs of its own aggregate" is proving what is already established, which is a fault. Thus said, the answer to this is that explaining here is not a good meaning, because negating the other does not show as the non-other, and also does not admit the non-other desired by the opponent. Saying: I have completely adopted the way of negating non-existence, because negating the other, so it cannot show the non-other in the way of negating the made, and you say that the nature of courage, dust and darkness is constant and all-pervading, so all things are not other, but are one, I have not admitted this view, so I am not proving what is already established, so your accusation is not good. The Vaisheshikas refute that this is an uncertain reason, even if the lamp is not seized, if there is something different from the lamp, then the pot will also have the consciousness of the lamp. The Vaisheshikas say that in our treatises, the six meanings of words are iron awls.
