If things like pots are broken, the thought of a pot will not arise, which exists in conventional truth; if things like earth are broken, the thought of form will still arise, which exists in ultimate truth. Therefore, if the Madhyamaka's argument is not established, this thought will not exist. Some say that there is damage without contradiction and error in this. They also say that these words of argument should also be arranged in order as: subject, proposition, reason, example of dissimilar class, pervasion, and conclusion. In order to answer what they said, the commentator here says: That is not good, because there is no concomitance. Because in one's own sect, in order to establish that the Madhyamaka's argument has damage without contradiction and error, there is no concomitance, so this accusation is not good. Thus, for the time being, the form based on the cause has been examined. It was previously said that if form is briefly summarized, there are two types: the form of the four elements and the form derived from the four elements. Up to this point, it has been examined that the form derived from the four elements is without self-nature. Thirty-first chapter. Now, we will discuss the four elements, etc., to show that the four elements are also without self-nature. Here, the previous view is first put forward: the form based on the cause exists, because it has its cause. If it does not exist here, there will be no cause, such as flowers in the sky. The form based on the cause has causes, etc., therefore, the form based on the cause exists. If someone says this, then these should also be arranged in order as: subject, proposition, reason, example of dissimilar class, pervasion, and conclusion. In order to answer what they said, the commentator here says, therefore it is declared: Apart from form, the cause of form is also unreasonable. For the form based on the cause

It is said that the nature of form is form, and apart from sound, smell, taste, and touch, the causes of form, etc., are also not manifest and cannot be grasped. It is said: Apart from form, this is the cause of form, such a thing is not manifest. Form has already been explained as unreasonable, so since form is unreasonable, the cause of form is also unreasonable. Here, for the dharma to be established as arising form, form, etc., are merely aggregates, and if the dharma to be established, form, etc., are not manifest, then earth, etc., are also not manifest, this is shown. Here, apart from "form," "the cause of form is also not valid." This latter half of the verse also shows that arising form is without self-nature, the dharma to be established is not substantially existent, but shows that form, etc., are merely aggregates. The dharma to be established is that if its cause is not manifest, then it is not manifest, i.e., if form, etc., are not manifest, then earth, etc., are also not manifest. Therefore, by virtue of it, examples also appear, i.e., in order to establish that arising form is without self-nature, examples similar to the dharma to be established, by virtue of the dharma to be established and the dharma to be established, armies and forests, etc., for which the dharma to be established is not substantially existent, and the cause of the dharma to be established is not manifest, then it is not manifest, these are existent, this appears. In this regard, here, taking earth as an example for the time being, say the words of combination, i.e., combine by saying that by negating earth, the rest should also be negated. Here, the opponents say, you Madhyamikas have promised that form is not produced in the ultimate sense, but now here you are establishing that form, etc., are merely aggregates, which will harm your own promise. In order to answer this previous view raised by the opponent, here, by explaining, it is said that because merely being an aggregate is not shown in the ultimate sense. I say, I establish merely being an aggregate in the conventional sense, but do not show it in the ultimate sense, therefore there is no harm to my own promise. If it is said, what is the merit of showing merely being an aggregate in the conventional sense?
