Just as the consciousness of forests and so on is consciousness, it is not an object of something that exists as a substance. Similarly, the consciousness of form is also consciousness, so it is not an object of something that exists as a substance. Or there is another way of reasoning, that is, ultimately speaking, this sound called "form" is not an object of the meaning of words existing as a substance, because it is a sound, like the sound of an army and so on. These should also be combined in order as the subject, the dharma to be established, the dharma of proof, and the example. For example, the sound of an army and so on, because it is a sound, is not an object of the meaning of words that exists accordingly, just as the sound called "form" is also a sound, so it is not an object of the meaning of words existing as a substance. Here, the Vaibhashikas believe that mind and mental factors exist as substances, therefore, they say that the reason of the Madhyamikas, "because it is a sound," is uncertain. Why is it that because it is a sound, like the sound of an army and so on, it is not an object of the meaning of words existing as a substance? Or because it is a sound, like the sound of mind and mental factors, is it an object because the meaning of words exists as a substance? In order to answer the former statement raised from them, here the commentator says that consciousness and mental factors are also the same as what is to be established, and should also be refuted in the same way, so the reason is not uncertain. Just as I refute form, mind and mental factors are also refuted in the same way, so there is no fault of the reason being uncertain. If form exists ultimately, even if it is destroyed, its consciousness will not be destroyed. Here, where its consciousness is destroyed, that is conventionally existent, like a pot. Blue and other forms, even if they are destroyed, their consciousness will not be destroyed in that way, therefore form exists as a substance. If you say so, it is your own school that is blaming the Madhyamikas' reason for having a non-contradictory and non-erroneous harm. Because in their treatises, the pot
