Our teacher, the great sage World Eye, in the teachings spoken to his wife, it is said as follows: As much as is the realm of the senses, a person is only that much. Thus and so forth it is said. The name 'person' exists as long as one has not died and the realm of the senses such as the eyes is transformed, but after death and the body has turned to ashes, it does not exist. Before death, live happily, after death there is no realm, the body has turned to ashes, how can it ever return? Thus it is said. Whatever the blue-green, much-heard one says, those are like the tracks of a jackal. The sage World Eye, calling out to his wife, said: Alas, blue-green mother, in the world, those who have heard much, the renunciates and Brahmins, say that this world exists, the other world exists, giving exists, sacrifice exists, father and mother exist, sentient beings are born miraculously, and there are Arhats in the world. Whatever they say, those are like the origin of the jackal's tracks, it is false, it is the treatise that reveals afterwards. Its origin is that a swindler without a livelihood went to a city that was rich, prosperous, with abundant produce, and full of people. Having arrived there, he told all the people of the city all the treatises he knew, such as the Vedas and grammar. He made everyone believe him. When he connected all the people in the city with constellations, planets, lifespans, and stellar times with those words, they each went to engage in agricultural work such as farming and trade. At that time, that swindler made many things out of wood that looked like jackal footprints, and at night, when all the people in the city were asleep, he filled most of the streets, highways, intersections, and crossroads with those things that looked like jackal footprints. Then, the next morning when it dawned, the people of the city saw most of the jackal footprints, and were surprised and frightened, so they asked the swindler: Teacher, noble one, whose are these many jackal footprints?
