It says, "Speaking of 'That Very Examination,' etc." If those who claim to have a self think in this way, then the Madhyamikas will also refute this, and the examination previously explained in the context of the aggregates is the same. It should be connected in this way. To explain that very thing, it says, "Does a sentient being transmigrate permanently or impermanently?" Thus, it speaks of an examination with two alternatives. "However one asserts," refers to the opponents. The answer is also the same, which means that it was previously explained that it is not reasonable for both permanence and impermanence to transmigrate. Explaining that very thing, it does not transmigrate because there is no difference that has arisen, because there is no difference between the previous and subsequent occasions, and also because the impermanent does not arise after being destroyed, and this order is the same for sentient beings. It says that "in the manner of refutation" is a concluding word. To explain that order of refutation, it says, "Therefore, with regard to the aspect of sentient beings permanently and impermanently transmigrating, the fault of the assertion and the harm of the inference are the same as before." Previously, how the fault of eliminating the nature of the dharma and the harm of the inference were explained for the assertion, those should also be applied here accordingly. If asked, how does the assertion have the fault of eliminating the nature of the dharma? For a sentient being who is permanent and unchanging, it is contradictory for the changing transmigration to occur, therefore, by eliminating that, the assertion has a fault. If asked, how does it become a harm of inference? It is not reasonable for a permanent sentient being to transmigrate, because it is permanent, like space. For the impermanent, it should also be applied accordingly by reversing that. If those who claim that the aggregates and sentient beings are impermanent retort, saying: The aggregates and sentient beings are a continuous stream of destruction, and those subsequent streams of aggregates and sentient beings arise from causes, and because antidotes have not arisen, they continuously transmigrate, therefore, transmigration is established, so there is no fault, then, this is because it has been established that it is not reasonable for the aggregates and sentient beings to transmigrate permanently and impermanently, and here, one's own school and outsiders who claim that the aggregates and sentient beings are impermanent cannot tolerate that, so those people say that although the previous moment has ceased, the subsequent moment arises due to that cause.

It is related to the continuity (of afflictions), and it arises through the stream of continuity until the antidote noble path has not arisen, therefore that itself is samsara, so for those who say impermanence, "samsara is established" is a word of refutation and debate. As a response to that, it is not good to make an explanation here, because just like the immediately preceding cause, formations and sentient beings perish, cutting off the cause of the later moment, and so on. Just like it was said before, "If it ceases, what is the cause?" Just like blocking the immediately preceding cause, here too, formations and sentient beings perish and cease, even if the antidote has not arisen, they are blocked separately without examination, therefore cutting off the fact that the extinguished things are the cause of the later formation, so it shows that the other party's words are not without fault. Because the fault of the proposition has not been abandoned, it means that before, for the impermanent ones, inferring the absence of samsara with the impermanent dharma, therefore because samsara is cut off, there is a fault of cutting off the self-nature of the dharma in the proposition, it shows that the other party has not abandoned that fault, so the other party's words are not without fault. Because the one who speaks that is harmed by inference, it is not without fault, it means that for those who say impermanence, from the ultimate truth, the internal formations should not be samsara, because they are impermanent, like external vases and so on, because it is harmed by inference, so the other party's words are not without fault. Here, the Lokayata says, formations and sentient beings are permanent and impermanent, they do not revolve, saying that this is establishing what is already established, it means that, as such, the Madhyamika school prevents that the four possibilities of formations and sentient beings, permanent and impermanent, should not be samsara, here the Lokayata is happy, they say that the Madhyamika school has established that there is no samsara, it is establishing what is already established, why? Because in our treatises it is also established that there is no samsara, it is a word saying that. How is there no samsara in the treatises of the Lokayata?
