Because of not observing, when subdued and free from the causes of faintness, one will observe the clear nature, therefore, things are not non-existent before and later transformed. To the Madhyamaka's reason, "because of transformation," it is added that its meaning is not established. For the Samkhya's reason, "because of being subdued," it cannot be established merely by words, so subsequent inference must be made, therefore. If they say that things that have ceased and are unborn are existent, because of being subdued, just as the sun's rays subdue the starlight? Or because it is the object of consciousness? Or because it is expressed in time? Or because it is indicated as "this"? Just like present things, if they say so, it is said. These will also be connected in order as the subject, the property to be established, the establishing property, and the example. For example, the sun's rays subdue the starlight, because it is existent because of being subdued, similarly, past and future things, cessation and unborn are also existent because of being subdued. Similarly, things that have ceased and are unborn are existent, because they are the object of consciousness, just like present things. Things that have ceased and are unborn are existent, because they are expressed in time, just like present things. Things that have ceased and are unborn are existent, because they are indicated as "this," just like present things. Because these reasons and examples are also existent, therefore, the meaning of the Madhyamaka's reason, "because of transformation," is not established, they will say. In response to their saying this, here it is done through explanation. For this, the refutation previously shown will also be stated. It is said, for what the Samkhyas said, the refutation previously stated by the Vaibhashikas will also be stated. It is shown in this way, the Samkhyas say that things that have ceased and are unborn are existent, because...

If it is said that, in conventional truth, past and future things are the subject, then the basis of the reason itself is not established, and the basis of the difference of the subject itself is not established. In ultimate truth, because birth is prevented, there is no present thing, therefore there is no example. If, in order to eliminate the faults such as the basis not being established, the present thing is made the subject, then this will also lead to no example, because everything is made the subject. Saying that "the meaning of the reason of being overwhelmed is also not established" means that because all things are unborn to us, therefore your reason is overwhelmed, this meaning is not established, and the sun's rays are also not established, so your example will also become the fault of not being established, this has been shown. The Samkhyas say, is existence itself because it is overwhelmed? Or because of degeneration? In order to show that this reason itself is a refuting measure. An unclear thing cannot be made clear, because it is unclear, like a flower in the sky. Similarly, a non-degenerate thing will not degenerate, because it is non-degenerate, like the nature of having knowledge or the self, thus harming the established tenet, thus two inferences are stated in order. For example, a flower in the sky is not clear because it has no thing, therefore it cannot be made clear, so it is not overwhelmed, similarly, other dharmas examined by the Samkhyas are also not clear because they have no thing, therefore they cannot be made clear, so they are not overwhelmed. Furthermore, for example, the nature of having knowledge and the self, they never degenerate, so they will not degenerate, similarly, things are also non-degenerate, so they will not degenerate. If things degenerate, then the nature of having knowledge and the self are also things, so it must be admitted that they degenerate, if so, then your own tenet will be harmed, because you do not admit that they degenerate. Holding onto the existence of things itself also has this other fault: if the nature is existent, then it will not become non-existent. The nature becomes other
