Then liberation is also unreasonable, because such a person regards self-nature and other-nature, existence and non-existence as one. Therefore, for those who cannot truly see the supreme teachings of Buddhism, liberation is also unreasonable. Because if one clings to it in that way, self-nature, other-nature, existence and non-existence cannot be established. Therefore, those sons of the Sugata who have immaculate wisdom, who have unobstructed wisdom light for all the vast ocean of knowledge, who practice the difficult practices of the Tathagata in order to benefit all beings, who practice the chariot of non-discrimination wisdom, they do not regard self-nature, other-nature, existence and non-existence as one. On the contrary, those sentient beings with little merit, in other lives, have not developed patience for the profound and vast Dharma, and their wisdom has become dull due to the habit of clinging to the declaration of self-nature, other-nature, existence and non-existence. Those who regard existence, other-existence, existence and non-existence as one, they have not truly seen the teachings of Buddhism. It is thought that the view of self-nature and so on is contrary to reason and scripture, so it is thought in this way. If you ask why, then, just like that, it has been explained how it is contrary to reason. How it is contrary to scripture is explained here. The Blessed One skillfully expounded existence and non-existence, and in the "Katyayana Instruction Sutra," he prohibited both existence and non-existence. Because the Blessed One is proficient in the true meaning, he skillfully expounds existence and non-existence, and in the sutra called "Katyayana Instruction," it says: Katyayana, this world abides in two extremes, and most cling to existence and non-existence. Similarly, in other sutras it is also said: Ananda, saying existence is permanence, saying non-existence is annihilation. Therefore, both existence and non-existence are prohibited. Therefore, those who cling to existence for all dharmas

Those who adhere to non-existence, because they do not truly see reality, liberation is also unreasonable for them. For those of us who do not cling to existence or non-existence, but merely establish conventions, there is no unreasonableness in liberation. Or some may have thoughts like this: If, in the ultimate sense, all things are non-existent, then whose true seeing can be called true seeing? And so on, these explain the meaning of the previous two verses in another way. Because this treatise has explained that in the ultimate sense all things are unborn, therefore, some beginners may have thoughts like this: If, in the ultimate sense, all things are non-existent, then whose true seeing can be called true seeing? Just like the horns of a rabbit and other non-existent things, it is impossible to truly see them. In order to dispel their doubts, the son of the Great Hero, with the sunlight of knowing dependent arising dispelling the darkness of ignorance, those who fully understand with wisdom the phenomena that arise from causes and conditions and become parts of conventions, have neither self-nature nor other-nature, neither existence nor non-existence, seeing these in a negative way is true seeing, because it is the cause of true seeing. The reason for saying this is that the way of negating self-nature etc. is the cause of generating true seeing, therefore, the way of negating self-nature etc. is the cause of true seeing, in order to make such an establishment. In order to show that sentient beings who are the opposite of this, those who are frightened and afraid because they see the selflessness of all things, are not true seeing. Those who are frightened and afraid because they see other-emptiness, like being afraid of the sky, wanting to eliminate the sky that has become a state of having obstacles, abide in seeing self-nature etc. Some people think: Those who see self-nature, and see other-nature, see existence and see non-existence, they do not see the Buddha's teachings. What they see is seen with the wrong view of outsiders.

It is said, "Thinking thus," etc. It is thought that seeing self-nature, etc., is seeing with wrong knowledge, so it is not seeing that alone. Therefore, looking at self-nature, etc., is itself contrary to the scriptures. Therefore, not looking at self-nature, etc., is seeing that alone, and it should be understood that it is reasonable to show it in this way. Therefore, the Blessed One, with and without things, the Teacher, in the Advice to Katyayana, refuted both existence and non-existence. Not looking at self-nature, etc., is seeing that alone, and it should be understood that it is reasonable to say, "It should be so." If seeing things and non-things is seeing that alone, then there will be no one who has not seen that alone, so that is not seeing that alone. Therefore, the emptiness of the self-nature of things is that alone, and only seeing it will lead to liberation, so not looking at self-nature, etc., is seeing that alone, and it should be understood that it is reasonable. The teacher Aryadeva also said, "The seed of existence is consciousness, objects are its field of activity, if one sees no self in objects, the seed of existence will be destroyed." Saying "Why?" etc., is to show the reason why not looking at self-nature, etc., is seeing that alone, and it should be known that it must be so. Otherwise, if self-nature is truly existent, then it will not become non-existent. If all things are truly existent by their own nature, then the truly existent self-nature will not become non-existent later, then things will also have what was not before and what is not after destruction. Therefore, things are not truly existent by their own nature, so not looking at self-nature, etc., is seeing that alone, and it should be understood that it should be combined in this way. This shows the transformation of the Dharma of things.
