is the subject, what is to be proven is the predicate, the means of proof, and the example are applied in order. For example, the magically created people and so on by a magician are without inherent existence because they are created and depend on the specific expression of what is relied upon. Similarly, internal things are also without inherent existence because they are created and depend on the specific expression of what is relied upon. Whatever has inherent existence is the opposite of this, which shows the dissimilar side. This reasoning will definitely establish the opposite of the dissimilar side. It should be applied in this way. The detailed explanation is as before. Here, if the opponent says: All things that are created and depend on the specific expression of what is relied upon are the inherent nature of things, so the meaning of the reasoning is contradictory. It is also uncertain, because some illusions and so on exist in both similar and dissimilar aspects. Because it does not pervade all similar aspects, the meaning of the reasoning is also not established. Because unconditioned phenomena such as space are not created and do not depend on the specific expression of what is relied upon. If you say that, it is not good either. The inherent nature of things such as illusion, dream, mirage, etc., although they are created and dependent, are called inherent nature because other things do not have them. For example, like the heat of fire, therefore, the so-called inherent nature is just a nominal establishment, not the ultimate truth. The detailed answer is as before. Thus, by establishing that things are without inherent existence, the meaning of the absence of self as stated in the Prajnaparamita is shown. Now, it is necessary to establish that other things are emptiness. In order to first establish its thesis, it is said here: In the ultimate sense, the internal aggregate things have inherent existence, because they are the cause of the expression and the special things to be expressed that are different from oneself, for example, the expression of long and short and the special things to be expressed.

Just like the cause of having color. Similarly, regarding something other than oneself, it is said, "This is other," and there exists the cause of speech and the particularity of speech. This indicates that the opponent, with the reason of the existence of other things, proves the existence of the self-nature of self-things. These are respectively combined as the subject, the dharma to be proven, the dharma that proves, and the example and the close combination, in order. For example, long is the expression of short, which is different from itself, and is the cause of the particularity of expression, because relying on the existence of long, short also exists. Similarly, the internal sense-sources are also the expression of other things, which are different from themselves, and the cause of the particularity of expression, therefore, relying on other things, the self-nature of self-things also exists, they say. In order to answer what they say, the commentator explains here: By stating many inferences that show this absence of self-nature, it has already been shown that the self-nature of things does not exist. If self-nature does not exist, then how can other things exist? Please tell me. Thus it is said: Relying on other things, the self-nature of self-things is also unreasonable. Why? Because it has been previously shown that the self-nature of self-things is unreasonable, therefore other things are also unreasonable. In order to show this, self-nature is called other things because it relies on things that are different from it. Thinking this way, it is said: If the self-nature of self-things were completely established, then its opposite, other things, would also exist. The self-nature of self-things is unreasonable, if self-nature does not exist, then how can other things exist? Thus, if there are no other things, then its opposite, the self-nature of self-things, will not be established. Furthermore, self-nature is also other, and other things are also other, but it is not so. Why? Therefore, the self-nature of other things is called other things.

Some say: If the self-nature essence of other things is called other things in dependence on other things, then because there is no self-nature, other things will not be established either. Therefore, as a special cause of speech and what is to be spoken other than oneself, that reason itself is either not established or self-contradictory. Moreover, there is no example, because long and short are not established. Like this, whatever the essence of other things is, it is called other things, therefore, if the essence of other things does not exist, then what can make it exist? Therefore, it is unreasonable to say that self-nature is other, and other things are also other. In this way, there is no opposition, because it is one. If there is no opposition, how can self-nature be established by relying on opposition? Therefore, the reason and the example are not established. Others say: Eyes and other things have self-nature in the ultimate truth, because they are not things, just like the heat of fire.
