Those who say "having intrinsic nature" do so because they have slandered the meaning of "without intrinsic nature," so your proposition has the fault of contradicting your own words, they say. In response to their saying this, the commentator himself said, "What is said here," and so on. Because for the opponent, there is no example to establish that things have intrinsic nature; because the Madhyamikas have not slandered the proposition; because they have not negated conventional things; and because they have already answered that things are without intrinsic nature, therefore my argument has no fault, thus he shows. Among these, in order to show that for the opponent, there is no example to establish that things have intrinsic nature, he said that in ultimate truth, things have intrinsic nature, like so-and-so, because there is nothing that follows it, therefore this has no fault. In order to show that the Madhyamikas have not slandered the proposition, because in ultimate truth, they have already admitted that things have intrinsic nature, and then proposed that they are without intrinsic nature, therefore they have not slandered the meaning of the proposition, so it is not that the meaning of the reason is not established, therefore this has no fault. In order to show that the Madhyamikas have not negated conventional things, because in convention, they also propose the intrinsic nature of things as being like the intrinsic nature of an illusion, therefore they have not slandered it in that way, so this has no fault. In order to show that the Madhyamikas have already answered that things are without intrinsic nature, because they have already answered with "dependent arising is without arising," and so on, therefore this has no fault. Others who boast of being wise will make other refutations: With what kind of intrinsic nature do they consider to be without intrinsic nature? If they say that it is with the fabricated intrinsic nature made by their own conceptual thoughts, because it is not established, then this is establishing what is already established. If they say that they consider the intrinsic nature that arises from causes and conditions to be without intrinsic nature, then this is not reasonable, because it will be harmed by the harm of direct perception and common knowledge. This refers to someone from one's own school.

Those who merely hope to be skilled in the way of selflessness say this: You Madhyamikas believe that all things are without inherent existence. If other non-Buddhists, through their own conceptual constructs, assert that the person they impute as being without inherent existence is not established, then this is also accepted by us, because it is arguing on the basis of what is already established. If you were to argue that the inherent existence of phenomena arises from causes and conditions, and therefore is without inherent existence, then this would be harmed by direct perception and common convention, and therefore such a statement is not reasonable. In response to this statement, the commentary explains: Because we do not accept that meaningless consciousness arises with an object that is a conceptual construct, and because we have refuted the existence of things, and because we have not abandoned worldly conventions, there is no harm from direct perception or common convention. Therefore, in our view, nothing can harm anything. Therefore, since we do not assert that the person imputed by other non-Buddhists through conceptual constructs is without inherent existence, there is no need to respond to the fault of arguing on the basis of what is already established. If you say that arguing that the inherent existence of phenomena arises from causes and conditions, and therefore is without inherent existence, would be harmed by direct perception and common convention, then in response to this, the Madhyamika, in ultimate truth, does not

If there is a definite goal, then it is okay to say that. But that is not established either, so there is no harm of direct perception. Here, if the opponent says: Now, things exist by their own nature, arising from causes and conditions, which is obvious, so it is not the case that self-nature does not exist. To answer the previous question raised by the opponent, here is an explanation: If in the true meaning, some things exist in some ways, then existing by their own nature, such arising becomes meaningless. Self-nature from causes and conditions, arising is unreasonable. On the side of saying that self-nature does not exist, it is said that "it is the remaining text of the word." For the side that says self-nature exists, self-nature is unchanging, not artificial, so it is unreasonable to arise from causes and conditions, showing a flawed word. In order to show the meaning of the words self-nature and arising, self-nature is one's own self-nature, a synonym for one's own essence. Arising means being born. If it is said that one cannot deny it because one sees arising, then, if the opponent says that now all internal and external things are seen to arise from causes and conditions, therefore one cannot deny that self-nature does not exist. As an answer, it is said, "That also depends on other causes and conditions," the self-nature that arises from causes and conditions is artificial, so it is not self-nature, showing the meaning of the time. In order to show the characteristic of cause, arising from cause and condition, self-nature becomes something made. Among them, the cause is unique, not common, producing its own meaning and the immediately following meaning, and similar meaning. It is said, by what produces that fruit, it is not common with others, produces the continuum of matter, produces its own function, and immediately after its own nature is pacified, it produces the fruit, so it is immediately following, producing the meaning similar to the fruit, not like the six realms, the only one is the characteristic of the cause. In order to show the characteristic of condition, the condition is the opposite of that, it is a joint action.
