Because if the singularity of non-existence itself becomes something other, that is not permissible. Furthermore, having otherness, even if one has come to possess it, it is not appropriate to become its own nature, just as having a cow, even if one has come to possess a cow, it is not appropriate to become the cow itself. Therefore, as the Vaibhashikas believe, although a thing is not the nature of otherness, if it possesses the meaning of the word called "otherness," the thing will also become otherness, which is shown to be unreasonable. Here, even if a thing has come to possess otherness, it does not become otherness, because it is not its own nature, which is one aspect. For example, what is given by the gods is not the nature of a cow, and having a cow, even if one has come to possess a cow, it is not appropriate to become the cow itself, because what is given by the gods is not the nature of a cow. Similarly, a thing that is not the nature of otherness, having otherness, even if one has come to possess otherness, it does not become otherness, because the thing is not the nature of otherness, which is what is being shown. Others say: Having it does not become its essence, but it is the cause of its wisdom and sound. The Vaibhashikas say that the Madhyamikas say that having otherness, even if one has come to possess it, it is not appropriate to become its own nature, which is actually proving what has already been established. Why? Because we also do not think that a thing that possesses that otherness will become the essence of that otherness, because it is not its own nature. However, if a thing possesses that otherness, we think that it is the cause of the wisdom and sound of that otherness. This is what they say. They explain it this way: A thing that is not the nature of otherness, if it possesses that which is called "otherness," will not become the essence of that which is called "otherness," but a thing that is not the nature of otherness, if it possesses that which is called "otherness," will become the cause of the wisdom and sound of that which is called "otherness," which is the conclusion. They say that. In response to what they say, the commentary here itself, because that is the negation that has already been spoken, so it cannot be used as an answer.

said: That was also the case before, from the ultimate point of view, otherness is not the cause of the mind and sound of otherness, because it is a special cause of mind and sound, like form. Thus, the refutation by "Vashada" has been completed, so it cannot be used as an answer. If it is said that because otherness makes "this is other" appear, therefore, it is not its own nature, and having it is not meaningless, then, this is called the Vaibhashika, who has the meaning of the word called "otherness", is not the nature of the otherness of things, but also becomes the cause of the mind and sound called "other", they think so, the Madhyamaka refuted them, this is the language of answering the refutation. They say, although things are other, but what does not appear as "this is other" has the meaning of the word called "otherness". The meaning of the word called "otherness" makes things "this is other" appear, so things are not the nature of what is called "otherness", and having what is called "otherness" is not meaningless. You Madhyamikas think that things are other, having the meaning of the word called "otherness", if you think so, it will become meaningless, what is said like this is wrong. After saying this, in order to answer them, here it is explained that it is unreasonable, because the illuminator makes the illuminated thing appear as the nature of appearance, because otherness makes "this is other" appear, so it is meaningless for otherness to make it appear, and, if it is not otherness, it cannot make "this is other" appear. For example, the illuminator is like a lamp, the illuminated thing is like a vase, the meaning of existence appears as the nature of appearance in the root consciousness, etc., here also, the illuminator is like a lamp is the meaning of the word called "otherness", the illuminated thing is like a vase is called "thing other", therefore, the illuminator otherness makes the illuminated thing other "this is other" appear as the place of practice of mind and sound.
