If something called "other" is different from other things by its very nature, then it should be able to become other even without other things, because that is its very nature. For example, just as a "person" known in conventional truth should be able to become the nature of heat even without relying on other things. This is what is being said. These correspond to the subject, the proposition to be proven, the means of proof, and the example, respectively. For example, just as a "person" known in conventional truth, whose nature is heat, should be able to become the nature of fire even without relying on other things because it is its nature, similarly, if something called "other" is different from other things by its very nature, then, because that is its very nature, it would be flawed to become other even without relying on other things, which is undesirable. There is no other that is different from other things; if there is not, then because there is not, there is not. That which is called "otherness" is that. This shows the meaning of the present by reversing the previous flawed statement. If something called "other" that is different from other things by its very nature does not exist, then because there is no other, that which is called "other" is not otherness by its very nature, that is the conclusion. That is undesirable, because viewers and listeners, etc., do not become otherness without relying on what is to be viewed and what is to be heard, etc. Attachment, etc., also do not become otherness without relying on desire, etc. For example, just as in convention, fire does not have heat by its very nature without relying on cold. This shows that the previous flawed statement is undesirable, and by reversing the flawed statement, the final contextual meaning is demonstrated with an example. Therefore, the previous commitment that "that which exists in dependence on something should not be different from that thing" has been well explained, showing that independence is not established, but dependence is established. If the viewer is other even without relying on viewing, etc., because the characteristics are different, like a cow and a horse. This is the statement of the opponent to prove that even without dependence, otherness exists because the characteristics are different, and these also

The dharma, the possessor of dharma, the dharma to be established, the dharma that establishes, and the dharma that serves as an example, are connected in order. For example, although a cow and a horse are mutually independent, they are different because of their different characteristics. Similarly, the seer and the seen, etc., although mutually independent, are different because of their different characteristics. To show the difference in these characteristics, there is also such a difference: the seer is the characteristic of the consciousness that appears as an object, or the collection of formations associated with it. The seen is the object, i.e., the place of color, shape, and eye consciousness. Form is the characteristic of visible form, the nature of color and shape. Having said this, now it is the combination of close acquisition. Therefore, by the power of the reason stated above, the seer is different from the seen, etc., so it will be harmed by the later argument and the independent inference. If it is said like this, then this is the conclusion and the result of the valid cognition, connected in order. We logicians, because of the difference in characteristics, although independent, establish the later argument that there is otherness, and you Madhyamikas do not establish the inference of otherness, because there is no other, so our independent inference will harm you Madhyamikas, so it is said. In response to such a statement, explaining it here is unreasonable, because the cow and the horse themselves have not been established as otherness. As it is said, this shows that the opponent's example, like a cow and a horse, is not established. Because the characteristics of a cow, such as dewlap, etc., are also dependent on the characteristics of a horse to become otherness, and the characteristics of a horse, such as mane and tail, etc., are also dependent on the characteristics of a cow to become otherness, if these are not mutually dependent, they will not be established as otherness, so in the conventional truth, if they are not dependent, they are established as characteristics, so the example established by the opponent has a flaw. In the ultimate truth, because the cow and the horse have not arisen, the subject of the example has not been established either. Therefore, the opponent's establishment is that the seer is not dependent on the seen, etc.
