To aggregates, the name "agent" can be assigned. For example, because a lamp is the cause of producing light, it is called "illuminator." Similarly, even if there is no agent itself, it is reasonable to assign the name "agent" to the causes that produce it. If it is said that the agent must be conscious, then a lamp has no consciousness and cannot be used as an example, then the answer is that, for example, even if a lamp has no mind, because it is the cause of illumination, it is called an illuminator. Just as worldly people say that even if a lamp is conscious, it is the cause of illumination, so it is called an illuminator, similarly, the aggregates of elements and what arises from elements, such as eyes and colors, even if they do not have consciousness, because they are the cause of observing colors, worldly people say it is the observer, why not call something without consciousness the agent? Therefore, even in name, it is not, because any cause can be called the agent, so even in conventional name, the nature of the observer is not established. Therefore, for the time being, the nature of the observer is not suitable for observing colors. If it is not the nature of the observer, like the Vaisheshika school says, when color consciousness arises from the combination of the four, then it can observe, then, if you want to understand according to the later examination, it is also not possible. Among them, the so-called non-nature of the observer refers to relying on conditions such as eyes and colors to be considered the observer, which is also in the Vaisheshika school's treatises, when the self wants to enjoy the object, through the power of the meaning of the word called "encounter," the self is combined with the mind. Then, the senses of the mind are released. Then, the senses enjoy the objects, so when objective consciousness arises from the combination of the self, mind, senses, and object, the observer can observe colors, because it depends on other conditions, so the non-nature of the observer can observe.
