To say "one does not see as a seer" is because it denies that meaning by itself, so it becomes a fault of breaking the vow. This is saying that those who claim to have a self, with rational cunning, prove that the previous argument of the Madhyamikas contradicts their own words. For example, someone says, "My mother is a prostitute," that very statement denies that meaning, so it becomes a fault of contradicting one's own vow. Similarly, you Madhyamikas say, "The seer does not see as a seer," that very statement also denies that meaning, so it becomes a fault of contradicting one's own vow. They say that. To answer what they said, the commentator says that because it has already been answered with "Here, dependent arising is without birth," it is not necessary to repeat it again. Just as it has been said that in the conventional, there is dependent arising, but in the ultimate, there is no birth, it has already been answered that in the conventional, it is called a seer, but in the ultimate, it does not see as a seer, so there is no fault, therefore it is not necessary to repeat and answer again. Furthermore, regarding this, with the two examinations of "Is the seer the nature of the seer, or is it not the nature of the seer?" it reveals the refutation of both views: the Samkhyas believe that the seer is the nature of the seer, and the Vaisheshikas believe that the seer is not the nature of the seer. Among them, if it is believed to be the nature of the seer, just as the Samkhyas say that the nature of the male is to have consciousness, then this shows that if one believes according to the previous examination, that is also not permissible. Among them, what is called the nature of the seer is to believe that it is the seer itself without relying on conditions such as the eye and form. That is to say, in the Samkhya texts, the nature of the male is to have consciousness, because it does not depend on other conditions, so it is established by its own nature, therefore it is called the nature of the seer, and they say that it sees by that. This is not permissible, why? Because, if that seer is the nature of the seer,

Then, since the nature is uncreated, will one become a seer even without seeing? If the nature of the seer of the Samkhyas is uncreated, then just as the heat of fire itself is heat and does not depend on anything else, the seer should also be a seer by his own nature and not depend on anything else. If that is the case, it would be unreasonable to become a seer even without seeing. If it is said that just as a woodcutter cannot be a woodcutter without an axe, so too, if he does not abandon seeing, he should be regarded as a seer, then, if the other party says: For example, although Devadatta the woodcutter is the nature of the woodcutter, if he does not have the tool of cutting, the axe, he cannot be a woodcutter, but if he has an axe, he can be a woodcutter, so too, although the self, the seer, is the nature of the seer, if he has abandoned the eye, the instrument of seeing, and does not have it, he cannot be a seer, but if the eye has not been abandoned and exists, he should be regarded as a seer. If this is said, then, in order to answer this statement, the commentator here says that if this is the case, then the self, the seer, is merely conventional truth, because the woodcutter is conventional truth. If the woodcutter were ultimate truth, then he should not depend on the axe, but because he depends on the axe, he is conventional truth. Similarly, if the self, the seer, were ultimate truth, then he should not depend on seeing, but because he depends on seeing, he is also conventional truth. If one understands in this way, then there is no seer who does not abandon seeing, because if one does not abandon seeing, then one admits that he is a seer. The remainder of this statement is that if one understands the seer who depends on seeing in this way, then the seer of ultimate truth is not established by nature, why? Because you say that if one does not abandon seeing and it exists, then one admits that he is a seer. In this way, because you say that the seer depends on seeing and relies on seeing, and not that he is a seer established by nature, therefore there is no seer. Here, in the state before having seeing and in the state after being separated from seeing, because there is no seeing, if there is no seeing, then what should be seen
