That is what is said. But this is also not right, why? Even so, that fault still exists, because it is unreasonable to infer based on an unknown existence. Having said this, even so, if previously, by observing and gazing at this object, one infers that there is a "viewer," then that observed object must also have eyes, form, nose, sky, and attention, etc., in order to exist. Therefore, only when one possesses the collection called "Lhas-byin" (ལྷས་བྱིན་, Sanskrit: Devadatta, Romanized Sanskrit: Devadatta, literal meaning: God-given) can one be called a "viewer," and there is nothing else besides that. As previously pointed out, that fault still exists. Why? Because the collection called "Lhas-byin" (ལྷས་བྱིན་, Sanskrit: Devadatta, Romanized Sanskrit: Devadatta, literal meaning: God-given), that is, those who possess the conditions of eyes and form, etc., are called "viewers." Apart from that, the particularists imagine that the self, which is not the essence of the viewer—a viewer exists—this existence, which is unknown to other schools, should not be inferred as a "viewer." Therefore, it is not valid to say that something that is not the essence of the viewer actually views form. What if it is commonly acknowledged that it exists? The word "again" means that if the particularists say this: In worldly terms, it is generally acknowledged that a viewer exists, therefore, even without relying on viewing and form, etc., there is still a viewer, the self. Then, the answer to this is that the commentator himself has said here: "Even if viewing is abandoned." Having said this, it shows that even if viewing and form, etc., are abandoned and do not rely on them, there is no viewer, the self. "What is it?" means asking what the meaning of the phrase "Even if viewing is abandoned" is. The answer to this is: "The viewer does not exist," because in the first verse of the root text it says: "When not abandoned, the viewer does not exist." Just as when viewing is not abandoned, the viewer does not exist, so too, when viewing is abandoned, the viewer does not exist, this is the conclusion. Why does the viewer not exist even when viewing is abandoned? Because the ability to view is abandoned.

It is said, because it is its own nature. If the ability to see is abandoned and becomes non-existent, then it is not the own nature of the seer. Therefore, in reality, it should not see form, because it is different from the eye, just like a pot. Through this example, the subsequent inference is shown. Those are also related in order to the subject of the proposition, the property to be proven, the proving property, and the example. For example, just as a pot, because it is different from the eye, should not see form, similarly, the self that is not the own nature of the seer, also because it is different from the eye, should not see form. Thus, in both cases, the seer itself is not established. The conclusion and the result of the valid cognition of these two cases are: in the position of the Samkhyas, the own nature of the seer seeing is not established; in the position of the Vaisheshikas, the non-own nature of the seer seeing is not established. Or, even if it is completely assumed to be the own nature of the seer, the non-abandoning seer does not exist. Even if seeing is abandoned, it is still the case. Whether there is seeing or no seeing, the own nature of the seer does not exist, so think. Therefore, the author of the sutra shows that even if I am completely assumed to be the own nature of the seer, if it has seeing, it will not see form; if it does not have seeing, it will not see form. In order to show this, if it is temporarily thought that the seer can see if it has eyes, then, if it is thought in this way, then the appearance of form is established, because it exists if there are eyes, just as burning exists if there is fire, so the seer itself is just a name, and it should be considered to be the eye itself. If it is said that even without seeing, it is a seer, then, because there is no appearance of form in the continuum of the blind, it is not reasonable to be a seer. Thus it is said, relating in order, "Even if I have seeing, I do not see form, and even if I do not have seeing, I do not see form." Therefore, starting from "What is said here," etc., the proponents of seeing demonstrate the existence of the seer through the very existence of the act of seeing.
