In order to show that the meaning of the established reason will not be clear without stating the similar example. If there is a similar example, such as "sound is impermanent because it is produced." What is produced is seen as impermanent, like a pot. Sound is also the same, so it is produced, therefore it is impermanent," how can the meaning of the established reason be clearly expressed? Therefore, if there is a similar example, such as "sound is impermanent, like a pot," then it should be added, "sound is impermanent because it is produced. What is produced is seen as impermanent, like a pot. Sound is also the same," like this, adding the similar example, and concluding with "therefore it is produced, so it is impermanent," then the meaning of the established reason will be clear. If the similar example and the concluding words are not added, how can the meaning of the established reason be clearly expressed? Therefore, for an argument with a similar example, it is necessary to add the similar example and the concluding words. Similarly, in order to show that the meaning of the established reason will not be clear without stating the dissimilar example, similarly, if there is a dissimilar example, such as "sound is not permanent because it is produced. What is not produced is seen as permanent, like space. Sound is not unproduced, therefore it is produced, so it is not permanent," how can the meaning of the established reason be clearly expressed? Therefore, if there is a dissimilar example, such as "sound is not permanent, like space is permanent," then it should be added, "sound is not permanent because it is produced. What is not produced is seen as permanent, like space. Sound is not unproduced, but produced," like this, adding the dissimilar example, and concluding with "therefore it is produced, so it is not permanent," then the meaning of the established reason will be clear. If the similar example and the concluding words are not added,

How can the meaning of the uncombined, vowed reason become clear? Therefore, for any statement, if there is only a dissimilar example, it is also necessary to combine the near application and the concluding words. For words of meaning similar to this, how can the meaning of the vowed reason become clear? That is, for any statement, if there is only a similar example or a dissimilar example, similar to this, for any statement, if there is only the word of the vowed meaning, and the reason is not actually stated, if the near application and the concluding words are not stated, the meaning of the vowed reason will not become clear, therefore, for these, it is necessary to combine the near application and the concluding words. For the words of the statement, these are not needed, because they are meaningless. That is, for any words of the statement, if the three members are complete, such as "sound is impermanent, because it is made, like a pot," for these, the near application and the conclusion are not needed, because in this way, the near application and the conclusion of the reason itself have already been stated, therefore, stating these is meaningless. Those who assert five members say that it is not appropriate to have only three members, etc., this is to explain the treatise in which those who assert five members refute Buddhists for not asserting only three members. They say that for any statement, even if all three members are complete, such as "sound is impermanent, because it is made, like a pot," if there is no near application and conclusion, the meaning of the vowed reason will not become clear. Therefore, if the reason is stated only for the dharma to be proven, because it is not in the example, it is unique, this is what they say. The dharma to be proven is "sound is impermanent." If the reason is stated only for it, then the example "pot" does not have the made of sound, that is, made by lips and tongue, etc., therefore, this reason is not common to both the dharma to be proven and the example, therefore, it cannot make the meaning of the vowed reason clear.
