These four ways are shown to be unreasonable and should be applied as before. Here, the meaning of debating is that, just as by stating that the reason stated by the opponent in the first debate is not established, thereby proving that the self-nature of suffering does not exist, this is called the conclusion and the fruit of valid cognition. In the twelfth chapter of the debate on examining suffering, considering the meaning of debate as the fruit of valid cognition is because the opponent previously, in order to prove that the aggregates, elements, and sense bases truly exist, the first point of view was that the aggregates truly exist, because they are suffering. By stating that this reason is not established, it is proven that the self-nature of suffering does not exist. What merit is there in proving that the self-nature of suffering does not exist? In order to dispel others saying that this is just a treatise established with dry logic, here it should also be established with credible scriptural sources. Therefore, in the Sutra Requested by the Victorious One, Mother Prajnaparamita, who completely overwhelms with great power, it says: Completely overwhelming with great power, form is neither happiness nor suffering. Similarly, feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness are also neither happiness nor suffering. Form, feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness that are neither happiness nor suffering, what is that? That is Prajnaparamita. And so on. Similarly, in the Sutra Requested by the Noble Brahma, it says: Brahma, you should also understand it this way, suffering, origin, cessation, and path are not the truths of the noble ones, but like this, suffering, origin, cessation, and path not arising is the path of the noble ones. And so on. In countless Mahayana sutras, it is said that the self-nature of suffering does not exist. Not only in the Mahayana scriptures is it said that the self-nature of suffering does not exist, but in the Hearer Vehicle, the Victorious One also taught this, a Brahmin said to the Victorious One:

Asked Sakya, "Did I create suffering, Gautama (Sanskrit: Gautama)?" The answer was, "Long-lived one, no." Asked, "Did others create it?" The answer was, "Long-lived one, no." Asked, "Did both create it?" The answer was, "Long-lived one, no." Asked, "Neither did I create it, nor did others create it?" The answer was, "Long-lived one, no." Those extensively spoken of in this way are all established. Thus, the scriptures trusted by both the Great and Small Vehicles are established as the merit and source of showing the emptiness of the nature of suffering. Therefore, I have not established it merely with my own thoughts and dry speculation, but those scriptures also exist. Because of this, the emptiness of the nature of suffering shown in the infinite sutras of the Great and Small Vehicles also shows that this treatise will explain the object in detail, which is the wisdom of the teacher and the wise one who explains it. The commentary on the Root Verses on the Middle Way, Lamp of Wisdom, composed by the teacher Lekdenjé, the twelfth chapter, Examination of Suffering, is extensively explained. Composed by the teacher Chenrezik Drultuk, it is complete. Now, in order to show that all conditioned things are empty in nature from the perspective of refuting answers and the power of independent inference, the thirteenth chapter will be composed. Regarding the word "by power," here too, it should be regarded as the meaning of entering into the cause of the promise, and the meaning of combining with the following text, the meaning of the words is the same as before. Among them, in terms of the meaning of entering into the cause of the promise, now it is said "by the power of refuting answers and independent inference," because when the author of the treatise began to write the first chapter, Examination of Conditions, he promised that all things are unborn, so here too, in the meaning of entering into the cause of the promise of how the author of the treatise previously promised, so it is said in this way. In terms of the power of refuting answers, the Madhyamika school promises that all things are empty in nature, to which the opponent
