If that is the case, it is unreasonable for suffering to be created by both self and other. Furthermore, whatever suffering is created by others, that is created by oneself. Even if the temporary states are different, it is because there is no difference in the person. Therefore, the argument that suffering is not created by another person is refuted in another way: Whatever suffering is created by any person based on the previous aggregates, for that person, in the state of the present aggregates, it is also created by oneself. It is not created by others. For example, even if the state of the aggregates of the previous life is different from the present aggregates, since there is no difference in the person, it is also not created by others. Therefore, regarding what is called self-created and other-created, the previous opponents said that because one does not experience the results of actions created by others, and because it is created by a person in a different state, suffering is both self-created and other-created, so there is no fault in pointing out both situations simultaneously. This is the conclusion of the answer that suffering is created by both, with the characteristics of the aggregates as one side. Now, in order to establish the third commitment, another way of refuting suffering created by both self and other is shown, with the characteristics of the person as one side. To point out its previous position, others said: Since it is created by the self of the person, suffering is self-created, and since suffering itself is not a person, suffering is also other-created. In this way, through different methods, self-created and other-created are established, so there is no fault. Here, the schools that separated from their own sects and spoke, such as the Sautrāntika, Dharmaguptaka, Kāśyapīya, Theravāda, Bhūmika, Pudgalavāda, and Sarvāstivāda, are mostly those who speak of the existence of a person. Some of them believe that the aggregates and the person are the same, so they say that since it is created by the self of the person, suffering is self-created. Others believe that the aggregates and the person

Because they believe that suffering is different, therefore, since that suffering is not a person, they say that suffering is caused by other things. Therefore, those seven schools say that, like this, from the perspective of oneness and otherness, suffering is caused by self and others. Therefore, the fault of you Madhyamikas refuting the tenets of both is not present on our side. They say this. In order to answer what they said, here the commentator explains. Here it says: "For the moment, suffering is not self-made, the person is not self-made." This is a summary statement. Because there is no person who is not the nature of suffering, so understand it. Saying things like this, he thereby shows that the person other than the nature of the aggregates did not create suffering himself. Like this, because there is no other person who is not the nature of suffering, like a flower in the sky, therefore he did not create suffering, understand it like this. If it is not permissible for it to become a fault that he did not create suffering because there is no person who is not the nature of suffering, if it is thought that the person is the nature of suffering. Therefore, even if it is the nature of suffering, it is not made by himself. "If it is said that the self-maker, therefore it does not depend on arising." Because it has already been forbidden there. Understand it like this. Any person is suffering, and if he himself creates suffering, then because what is created by himself is not created by cause and condition, therefore it does not have the nature of dependent arising, therefore that is not allowed, because it has already been forbidden before. Or, "He does not make himself," because it is not seen that he does things to himself, just as it is unreasonable to arise from self-nature, therefore it is unreasonable for him to do that. Understand it like this. This shows the meaning of the root of this verse explained in other ways. If any person is suffering, then he himself will not create it, because it is contradictory for himself to do things to himself, just as it is unreasonable to arise from self-nature, therefore it is unreasonable for him to do that, the nature of suffering
