Those who seek flaws, previously thought that suffering was created by the self, but this view has not been established and has been refuted. In order to conceal the harm to their own tenets, now, if someone were to think that the person (གང་ཟག, Sanskrit: pudgala, Romanized Sanskrit: pudgala, literal meaning: person) himself created the suffering characterized by the five aggregates. If that is the case, then who created the suffering that I created, and who is that person (གང་ཟག, Sanskrit: pudgala, Romanized Sanskrit: pudgala, literal meaning: person) without suffering? Saying that I created that suffering with something, that which is called a person (གང་ཟག, Sanskrit: pudgala, Romanized Sanskrit: pudgala, literal meaning: person) without suffering does not exist. What is meant by this is that the person (གང་ཟག, Sanskrit: pudgala, Romanized Sanskrit: pudgala, literal meaning: person) who created his own suffering, before he created it, it is impossible for a person (གང་ཟག, Sanskrit: pudgala, Romanized Sanskrit: pudgala, literal meaning: person) without suffering to exist, so it is said that he did not create suffering. If someone, wanting to maintain their own view, says that the person (གང་ཟག, Sanskrit: pudgala, Romanized Sanskrit: pudgala, literal meaning: person) is neither the same as nor different from the aggregates, then this is a statement by the Madhyamikas to welcome the doubts of the opponents. If the opponents, wanting to maintain their own view of establishing the person (གང་ཟག, Sanskrit: pudgala, Romanized Sanskrit: pudgala, literal meaning: person) as the creator of my suffering, and wanting to establish the doctrine, say that the person (གང་ཟག, Sanskrit: pudgala, Romanized Sanskrit: pudgala, literal meaning: person) is different from the aggregates, then in order to eliminate the fault previously refuted by the Madhyamikas that "he is not the creator of my suffering," they would say here: We believe that the person (གང་ཟག, Sanskrit: pudgala, Romanized Sanskrit: pudgala, literal meaning: person) is neither the same as nor different from the aggregates, so what you Madhyamikas say, "It is impossible for a person (གང་ཟག, Sanskrit: pudgala, Romanized Sanskrit: pudgala, literal meaning: person) without suffering to exist before the aggregates," is establishing what has already been established. If they say that, then there is also a fault in that. Even if the person (གང་ཟག, Sanskrit: pudgala, Romanized Sanskrit: pudgala, literal meaning: person) cannot be said to be the same as or different from the aggregates, if it is thought that the person (གང་ཟག, Sanskrit: pudgala, Romanized Sanskrit: pudgala, literal meaning: person) exists within the realm of the aggregates, then because it has been shown that there is no person (གང་ཟག, Sanskrit: pudgala, Romanized Sanskrit: pudgala, literal meaning: person) in the aggregates, an explanation is needed here. Even so, it should be known that the person (གང་ཟག, Sanskrit: pudgala, Romanized Sanskrit: pudgala, literal meaning: person) does not exist in these five aggregates called "Devadatta," because it arises dependently, like a pot. After saying that, those dharmas should be applied in order to the subject, the dharma to be established, the establishing dharma, and the example. For example, the pot arises dependently, so these five aggregates called "Devadatta"

Just as non-existence is the case, so too, a person arises dependently, therefore, in this aggregate of five skandhas called Lhase Jin, there is no person. If it is said, "In order to negate existence itself, therefore this exists," then the opponent would say, in the world, what is negated is existence itself, not the negation of non-existence. For example, one says, "Lhase Jin is not at home," but one does not say, "The flower of the sky is not at home," so here, you have negated the person's existence in the skandhas, which indicates that the person himself exists. To answer what they have said, here an explanation is made: That is not good, because the primordial substance, self, and Ishvara, etc., which are commonly conceived by the heretics, are uncertain, and there is no example in ultimate truth, and existence itself is not reasonable. In the world, it is also seen that the heretics negate the non-existence of the commonly conceived primordial substance, etc., therefore, since negation exists, Lhase Jin is not at home, but the thing exists, so even though the person is not in the skandhas, will the thing exist? Or, since negation exists, just as the primordial substance, etc., are completely non-existent, so too will the person be completely non-existent, which is uncertain. Moreover, in ultimate truth, there is no example of the person's existence, and in ultimate truth, existence itself is not reasonable, so this argument is not good. If the opponent says, your reason, "because it arises dependently," is not understood by us, so it cannot be a reason. To answer this previous point they raised, here an explanation is made: Here, the teacher has also said before, "If it were made by me, therefore it would not arise dependently." This shows that the dharma of suffering arises dependently, and only through this is the subsequent inference shown. Because the opponent also admits that the person and the skandhas arise dependently, therefore the meaning of the reason is not unestablished. Therefore, in this way, the person is not established in ultimate truth, so the suffering person
