The aforementioned reason for establishing the tenet is that, from the perspective of ultimate truth, the aggregates and so on are truly existent, because they are mutually dependent, like fire and firewood. This reasoning, as well as the way of demonstrating without examples, reveals the dependent arising spoken of in the Prajnaparamita, which is neither synonymous nor different in meaning, but possesses a distinctiveness. What are the merits of revealing dependent arising? In order to dispel the claim that "this is merely a treatise established with dry logic," here, the tenet should also be established by relying on credible scriptural sources. Therefore, in the Sutra of Brahma's Request, it says: "One does not see phenomena apart from the body, nor does one see the body apart from phenomena. How one sees non-duality and non-non-duality is how one sees. Seeing in this way, one does not even see manifest seeing." The establishment of these words is the merit and source of this, because seeing non-duality is not otherness; seeing non-non-duality is not oneness. When this was said, Brahma asked, "Bhagavan, what does a Bodhisattva see manifestly by seeing in this way?" The Bhagavan replied, "Seeing in this way, one does not even see manifest seeing." The establishment of these words is thus. These and countless other Mahayana sutras speak of dependent arising as neither synonymous nor different in meaning, but possessing a distinctiveness, and these are all established. Because these credible scriptural sources are established, this is the merit and source of revealing dependent arising, therefore, I am not merely establishing the tenet with my own thoughts and dry logic, but there are also these scriptures as a basis. Because in this way, the dependent arising spoken of in countless Mahayana sutras as neither synonymous nor different in meaning, but possessing a distinctiveness, these are the very objects to be explained by this treatise, and this is also the wisdom and skill of the teachers in explaining before the masters.

It is so. In the commentary on the Root Verses on the Middle Way, the Lamp of Wisdom, composed by the master Lekdenjé (leags ldan byed), the tenth chapter called "Examination of Fire and Fuel," extensively explained and composed by the master Chenrezik Trultuk (spyan ras gzigs brtul zhugs), is complete. Now, in order to show that the nature of samsara is emptiness by refuting the distinctions of the opposing side of things that are without inherent existence, the eleventh chapter, called "Examination of Samsara," will be composed. Here, the word "by" should also be understood in this context as the meaning of the cause related to the vow, and as the meaning of connecting with the text below, the meaning of the words is as before. Among them, in terms of the meaning of the cause related to the vow, now it is said, "by refuting the distinctions of the opposing side of things that are without inherent existence," because when the author of the treatise composed the first chapter of examining conditions, he vowed that all things are without action, therefore, here too, the author of the treatise speaks in this way in terms of the meaning of the cause of how the vow was made. Things that are without inherent existence are one's own side. The opposing side is the side that makes the opponent, that is, those who assert that the aggregates, elements, and sources have inherent existence. The so-called "distinction" refers to the fact that the other party, in order to prove that the aggregates, elements, and sources exist, first puts forward the proposition, that is, from the ultimate truth, the aggregates, etc., are truly existent, because the Blessed One has shown the names and distinctions, and in order to eliminate these, he has shown the instructions, etc., these are all reasons for proving that the aggregates, etc., exist, that is, those who assert that samsara has inherent existence. The so-called "refuting it" refers to the fact that the eleventh chapter is composed with the meaning of refuting these. In terms of the meaning of connecting with the text below, it is said, "by showing that the nature of samsara is emptiness, the eleventh chapter will be composed," that is, the meaning of this eleventh chapter of examining samsara, which will be explained below, is that samsara and samsara
