Answering "yes" is like becoming everyone's laughingstock. Here, I take firewood without fire as one side. As an example of this, when consciousness without the elimination of fire is placed nearby, you say that even without the elimination of fire, it has the ability, so it cannot be used as an example. Saying this will also become everyone's laughingstock, so that answer is not a valid conclusion. Others say: There is no fire in the wood either. This is said because it cannot be seen, and because it becomes meaningless to write. Thus it is explained. This is an explanation of the root of the verses. The venerable Buddhapālita explains it thus: There is no fire in the wood either. Why? Because it cannot be seen, and because it becomes meaningless to write. If there were fire in the wood, then it could be seen. Because it cannot be seen, there is no fire in the wood. Furthermore, if there were fire in the wood, then the actions of putting in, lighting, moving the wood, etc., would become meaningless, so there is no fire in the wood. Thus it is explained. Others say that this is unreasonable because not seeing it does not establish it as a reason, and because the reason of writing being meaningful contradicts the edge of showing it to be meaningful. By saying this, the others are themselves. The commentator himself shows that the explanation of the venerable Buddhapālita is refuted as unreasonable. Why is it unreasonable? Because not seeing it does not establish it as a reason, because it is firewood that is burning, so fire can also be seen in it. Furthermore, saying that writing becomes meaningless is also a flawed statement, because writing is not meaningless, but becomes meaningful. Therefore, if the flawed statement that writing becomes meaningless is refuted, then the current situation is that writing becomes meaningful, which is clearly the reason. Writing

If an existent thing itself is the reason, then what it is to prove will also be the opposite of "there is no fire in the wood," it will become "there is fire in the wood." In that case, you have previously quoted the scriptures saying "there is no fire in the wood," and you have already admitted this. Now, here you are proving that there is fire in the wood, which will contradict what you have done. Therefore, the explanation of the Venerable Buddhapālita is unreasonable. Do not think that the negation of fire and wood can only be negated by the negations that have already been explained, but should be negated by other negations as well. Therefore, other negations should also be shown in the same way, that is, the negation of fire and wood is not only done by the negations that have already been explained, that is, negating that they are one or different, interdependent or independent, not coming from elsewhere or not existing in the wood, but should be negated in the same way by other negations. So, what are the other negations? Therefore, it is said, "Gone, not gone, and measuring, likewise, on the wood, the remainder should be shown." That is to say, it should be understood that through these methods, other statements can also be shown on the wood in the same way. Through which methods? Through the methods of gone, not gone, and measuring. In order to illustrate this, just as from inference, gone, not gone, and measuring do not walk, similarly, for burned, not burned, and being burned, there is also no burning, because they are to be burned, just like the burned, and so on, it should be said. These should also be related in order to the subject, the dharma to be proven, the dharma that proves, and the example. For example, just as in the ultimate sense, the paths of gone, not gone, and measuring are to be walked, therefore they have no activity of walking, similarly, in the ultimate sense, the actions of burned, not burned, and being burned are also to be burned, therefore, just as the burned action has no activity of burning, so too they have no activity of burning, it should be said. Just as from inference, the walker and the walking
