Because of preventing that nature, and because of preventing existence as substance. It is said that fire and firewood, for those that are accomplished and unaccomplished, it is not appropriate to rely on them, and because if there is no fire and it is not burning, then the firewood itself is not reasonable. Furthermore, others, etc., indicate that fire does not come from elsewhere either, and also show that it is not on the firewood. Among them, first to show that it does not come from elsewhere. Fire does not come from elsewhere, because it prevents that nature, and because it prevents existence as substance, etc. If it is examined whether it comes with firewood or without firewood, then neither is established, namely, if that fire is examined to come from elsewhere, then does it come with firewood or does it not come with firewood? Neither is established. Why? Because dependence and togetherness are not established, and if there is no dependence, then because there is no firewood, there is no basis. Because fire and firewood, for those that are accomplished and unaccomplished, it is not appropriate to rely on them, therefore, fire and firewood, etc., are absent, so coming together with firewood is not established. Because fire and firewood, etc., do not depend, then because there is no firewood, therefore, because there is no basis for fire, therefore, firewood as the basis for fire does not come to be established. Now, in order to show that fire is also not on the firewood. There is no fire on the wood either, because it prevents that nature, it is said. There is no fire on the wood either. It is called the proposition, because it prevents that nature, it is called establishing it, because there is no wood other than fire, therefore, it is not possible to examine the existence of fire established by the base firewood. Or, taking the absence of fire in the firewood itself as the subject and saying, namely, in the conventional, that which is together with burning is called fire, wood without burning, etc., heat is called firewood, so taking this as the subject. The root of the verse,

Because it is something that arises, it does not have fire. Similarly, firewood is also something that arises, so it also does not have fire. Some say that fire is characterized by pleasure, dust, and darkness, so the example also has these characteristics. For those people, the word "also" is like the Samkhyas thinking that the Madhyamika's example is consciousness. The dharma to be proven cannot be done because of emptiness. Their view is that the three gunas (गुण, guṇa, quality) such as pleasure are constant and universally present, so fire has more pleasure and dust components among the three gunas (गुण, guṇa, quality). Therefore, your example of consciousness also has fire, so consciousness cannot be used as an example to prove that firewood does not have fire. In order to answer their statement, the commentator here says: Because it does not have the special thing that is excluded, it is not without an example. Because consciousness does not have the entity of fire with the special characteristics of burning and heat, consciousness is the same as firewood in terms of not having the special thing that is excluded, so consciousness can be used as an example, because there is no specific fire with the characteristics of burning and heat in consciousness. If it is said that there is no fault because it has its power, then if the Samkhyas say that although there is fire as the self-nature of exclusion in consciousness, your example is not valid because consciousness has the power of fire, so our argument has no fault. If they say that, then in order to answer them, the commentator here says: This answer is like pointing out that someone who does not understand the characteristics of sound, a tarka (तर्क, tarka, reasoning) practitioner, does not understand the characteristics of sound, just as the knowledge of the treatises of tarka (तर्क, tarka, reasoning) itself is proficient in the characteristics of sound. This is an example that will become a laughing stock. To a tarka (तर्क, tarka, reasoning) practitioner who is not proficient in the characteristics of sound, a certain debater pointed out that you are not proficient in the characteristics of sound, and that person said, if I am proficient in the treatises of tarka (तर्क, tarka, reasoning), why am I not
