In order to eliminate the harm to the opponent's own nature, if the establishment of a thing itself does not depend on others, then it does not depend; if the establishment also depends on others, they say so. In order to answer their saying so, the explanation is done here. If they say so, even so, that is unreasonable. Why is establishment unreasonable? Therefore, because of inferring with dependence, existence itself eliminates non-existence itself, therefore those who say non-existence, their proposition has the fault of obscuring the self-nature of the subject. It is thought that you, the object of fire, has not yet been established, and depends on fire and firewood to be established, and after the fire is established, it depends on the establishment of fire to establish the existence of firewood. Thus, if one infers with dependence, dependence is existence, therefore existence itself eliminates non-existence itself. For example, just as a baby depends on milk, because it is existence, existence itself eliminates non-existence itself, fire depends on firewood is also dependence, because it is existence, existence itself eliminates non-existence itself. Therefore, you say that the object of fire has not yet been established, does not exist, and depends on firewood to be established, their proposition has the fault of obscuring the subject, the object of fire has not yet been established, the self-nature of non-existence, and the inference with dependence is obscured. If the object of fire is established and exists, the object is established and exists also for the sake of establishment, depending on others is meaningless, therefore it is unreasonable, the author of the sutra thinks so. Some say that the words and meanings of the previous verse are combined in this way: In order to conceal the harm to the opponent's own nature, if it is not established, how does it depend? Combine it like this. The example is shown like this: For the opponent's view that things are not established and dependent, the Madhyamaka says: What is the dependence of things? If it is not established, how does it depend? Thus, it is refuted by the fact that non-establishment should not depend. Now here, in order to eliminate the harm to the opponent's own nature, it is also supplemented only with words, things

Unestablished If it is said that it needs to rely on others, then it should be connected in this way. The answer to that is, if it is said like that, even so, it should not rely. That is the meaning. Why shouldn't the unestablished rely? The reason for that is that, by inferring in a way that is accompanied by reliance, because the nature of existence dispels the nature of non-existence, therefore those who say non-existence, in their vowed Dharma, there is the fault of dispelling the nature of the subject, it should be understood like this. This is to say that if others want to make the unestablished rely, then the unestablished is non-existent, and reliance is existent, so by inferring in a way that is accompanied by reliance, because the nature of existence dispels the nature of non-existence, therefore, others say that things are unestablished and non-existent, in their vowed Dharma, the subject of fire is unestablished and non-existent, this nature is inferred in a way that is accompanied by reliance and there is the fault of being dispelled, if the thing of fire is established and existent, then it is not unestablished, so others say that the unestablished relies, this is unreasonable, the author understands it like this, it can also be connected like this. Or, it should not rely. Because of non-existence, like a flower in the sky, this is the context of if it is established and relies, then it should not rely. They should be connected in order as the subject, the Dharma to be established, the Dharma to be established, and the metaphor. For example, the flower in the sky does not rely on firewood because of its non-existence, similarly, the thing of fire that others want is established, but it does not exist in the ultimate sense, so it should not rely on firewood. Here also, if it is unestablished and relies, then it is unreasonable, if it is connected like this, then the subject of fire that others want is established, it should be connected with the unestablished that is the opposite of it. Or, it should not rely. Firewood should not rely on fire, because it is as non-existent as fire, like something other than it, this is the context of if it is established and relies, then it should not rely, it takes firewood as one side, they are also the subject.
