This verse called "Explanation" is what the author of the sutra said: If another fire arises from wood, it can also come into contact with wood. Just as a woman and a man, and a man also comes into contact with a woman. Although it is said in this order, here the commentator reverses the first half and the second half to explain it. Why reverse it? Because it is easier to express the meaning that one wants to express by saying it this way. If the example is mentioned first, it is easier to express the actual meaning. Here, the meaning of the words is to show that even in the inconsistent aspect, there is a dharma that is established, thereby indicating uncertainty. The meaning of this verse is: Just as a woman and a man, and a man also comes into contact with a woman. Through this sentence, it is explained that even in the inconsistent aspect that is not other, there is a dharma that is established, which is the characteristic of contact. Therefore, what the Madhyamikas previously said, "If it is other, there is no contact," is uncertain. To illustrate this example of uncertainty, for example, someone says that sound is permanent because it is a form. Others refute it by saying that just as a pot is a form but is impermanent, sound is also the same. Through this statement, it should be understood that what was previously said is uncertain. For example, some grammarians stated the former view, while others, such as logicians, stated the latter view, so it should be understood that the words stating the former view are uncertain. Similarly, here, you Madhyamikas say "If it is other, there is no contact," meaning that if fire and wood are other, they will not come into contact. To this, we say, just as a woman and a man, and a man also comes into contact with a woman. Through this sentence, it is explained that even if a man and a woman are other, they can come into contact, so it should be understood that your Madhyamika statement is uncertain. In response to this statement, the commentator explains here: If fire and wood repel each other, even if the fire is other that arises from the wood, it depends on whether one wants to come into contact with the wood. The brief meaning of this verse is, if fire and wood

If we eliminate one by one, and become mutually otherness, then as the outsiders say, although wood and fire are otherness, they also want to meet like women and men meet, so it depends on this. If so, then the non-common quality of oneness is otherness, and it has the characteristic of achieving dharma meeting, so the Madhyamika previously said that others do not meet, then it becomes uncertain. The Madhyamika previously, when contemplating dependent origination, etc., has already refuted the birth and otherness of all dharmas in the ultimate sense, so like fire and firewood eliminating each other, and not becoming otherness, men and women also eliminate each other, and not becoming otherness. The non-common quality of fire and firewood not becoming otherness, the otherness of men and women is also non-existent, and if otherness is not achieved, then the meeting of the two others arising in different places is also non-existent, so the previous achievement of the Madhyamika, others do not meet, that is not uncertain, thus it is shown. If fire and wood eliminate each other, then it means there is no characteristic of the relationship between the agent and the action, that is its meaning. If fire and firewood are otherness, and there is no meeting of the characteristic of the relationship between the agent and the action, that is its meaning. Although fire is born from wood and is other, the meeting of firewood depends on desire, saying that your desire is like the meeting of women and men, if it depends on desire, then promising through the door of opportunity, then wanting to answer. That is to say, in the Madhyamika's doctrine, fire and firewood have not become otherness in the ultimate sense, so there is no meeting, but not becoming otherness does not establish the opportunity for meeting, through the door of opportunity, as the outsiders say, like women and men, fire and firewood also meet, after the Madhyamika promises, wanting to answer that there is no meeting. In order to show the promise through the door of opportunity, like this, if we, who have no mutual dependence, eliminate the meeting of arising in different places because of otherness, then.
