If asked here, it was also in the previous chapter analyzing the aggregates, it has been established that "Without the cause of form, form cannot become an object. Without the thing called form, the cause of form does not appear either." Because it has been previously explained to remove the reality of form, so fire is also not real. When form and so on are assembled, where there is the difference of touch with the nature of warmth, that is only the cause of the results such as burning, coloring, and appearing. Because when that is fire, the nature of fire as the author is not real at all, then what is used to burn the firewood? It will not burn. This is explained. Or, firewood is not the four great elements with more fire components, or the other three. These four great elements or three are also burned, not burners. Fire is also arising or the aggregation of elements, which the other party also knows. Therefore, it must be determined that firewood is either the four great elements with equal components, or the three excluding the fire element. Those are also burned, not burners. Fire is also the arising of the fire element, or the aggregation of the four great elements. The other party also knows, therefore, the establishment of the two terms fire and firewood are both of the nature of elements, because they are not the authors of burning, so it is explained that fire does not burn firewood. Therefore, in the ultimate sense, fire is not the burner of firewood, because it is an element, like water and so on. This is said. Those are the subject, the dharma to be established, the dharma that can be established, and the metaphor, corresponding in order. For example, the three of water and so on, because they are elements, are not burners of firewood, similarly, fire is also an element, so it is not the burner of firewood. Similarly, it is also said that because it has form and so on, is coarse, is included in the aggregate of form, is external, has birth, has causes, and so on.

The phrase "should be done like this" means to combine the establishing dharma of the previous inference with these (establishing dharmas). In the ultimate sense, fire is not what burns firewood, because it possesses form, etc., because it is coarse, because it is included in the aggregate of form, because it is external, because it is something that is born, and because it is something that has a cause, like water, etc., it should be combined like this. Therefore, in this way, in the ultimate sense, it is unreasonable for fire to be the burner. When is just that it? What burns that firewood? When, looking at the difference of birth, at the time when it is nominally called fire or firewood, if that aggregate of elements is that fire or firewood, then what burns that firewood? This is to combine the meaning of the previous inference into a verse. When the four great elements are equal, or the three except fire, looking at the difference of birth, it is nominally called firewood. Only fire, or the one in which fire is more dominant than all four, looking at the difference of birth, at the time when it is nominally called fire, if that aggregate of elements is that fire or firewood, then the burnt and the burner are inseparable, with what does the fire burn that firewood? It does not burn. Thus, when burning, it becomes firewood, etc., which is unreasonable. This is the conclusion and the result of valid cognition. The opponents say that when burning, it is firewood, so although fire and firewood are other, there is no fault of being without cause, etc., which is unreasonable. If it is said that earth, etc., abide inseparably, but there is the fire element that can burn, so the example does not match what should be established, this is what the opponents say. The Madhyamika previously said that in the ultimate sense, fire is not what burns firewood, because it is an element, like water, etc., the example shown in the inference is unreasonable, because the realms of earth, water, and wind abide inseparably in one place, but there is the fire element that can burn, like trees in a pit of earth
