Previously, words were arranged closely to seize the opportunity for the opponent to admit that fire and wood are different entities. If fire is not wood, then fire would arise without wood, it would burn constantly, it would arise from a cause without a burner, creation would become meaningless, and in that case, there would be no action. By saying these things, it is inferred in four ways that fire and wood are not different entities. In reality, fire is not a different entity from wood, because it is dependent, like the self-nature of wood. Similarly, in reality, wood is not a different entity from fire, because it is dependent, like the self-nature of fire. In reality, fire is not a different entity from wood, because it has a cause, it has creation, and it has action, like the self-nature of wood. Similarly, in reality, wood is not a different entity from fire, because it has a cause, it has creation, and it has action, like the self-nature of fire. By showing these points, the opponent is frightened. If the opponent does not want to accept the four exploitable flaws that they previously admitted, that fire and wood are different entities, then the opponent will be bad because they have broken their vow. Furthermore, add "listen" etc. If the opponent says, when it is pervaded by fire and burning, it is called wood, when there is no fire and it is not burning, it is not called wood, therefore, fire and wood are different entities, but the faults of having no cause etc. that were previously pointed out will not occur. If they say this, then there are other faults, listen, I will point them out. When that is just that, what burns that wood? If it is said that when it is ignited by the condition of fire, that is just that wood, then what burns that wood? That is to say, if, as the opponent wishes, when it is pervaded by fire and burning, it is called wood, then that itself becomes fire, because there is no other fire apart from that, then what does fire use to burn that wood?

It is also functioning. If it is said that the very thing that is burning is fire, then what is separate from the fire is firewood, so there is no other burning thing to be examined, so it is unreasonable to say that when fire pervades and burns, it is merely called firewood. In order to show the source of why the burning thing cannot be firewood, it is said (in the text) that in worldly terms, only what appears is called firewood, and what is associated with burning is called fire. Because it is said that way even in worldly terms, the burning thing should not be firewood. From the ultimate point of view, it is because the arising is prevented. That is, from the ultimate point of view, because the arising of all things is prevented, the names of fire and firewood do not exist either, so there is no such name as burning. Even if it has already arisen, since it is merely that, what can pervade what? Therefore, this statement is merely to show one's own vast wisdom. That is, even in the worldly terms, for the side that admits that fire and firewood have arisen, since the burning thing that is related to the cause of fire is merely firewood, there is no distinction between fire and firewood, so what fire can pervade what firewood? This is unreasonable, therefore, the other party says that the burning thing is firewood, this statement is merely to show one's own vast wisdom. Or, this is another way of explaining, etc., which shows another explanation of the latter half of the verse. Therefore, if it is said that in this case, it is only when something is burning with some characteristics of fire as the agent that it is called firewood, this is also because the reason for being able to establish has been shown before, because the existence as an entity has been excluded, so it does not exist. When is it merely that? What can burn that firewood? When shapes and so on are gathered together, it is merely the difference of touch with the characteristic of warmth, because that is the cause of results such as burning, coloring, and appearing, so that is when it exists, it is said. Therefore, if, as the other party wishes, the burning thing is examined as firewood, then with some characteristics of fire as the agent, when another firewood is burning, it is called firewood.
