It does not create becoming a part and a non-part, becoming a part; it does not create becoming a non-part, becoming a part and a non-part; it does not create becoming a part and a non-part, becoming a non-part; it does not create becoming a part and a non-part, becoming a part; it does not create becoming a part, becoming a part and a non-part; it does not create becoming a part and a non-part, becoming a non-part; it does not create becoming a non-part, becoming a part and a non-part, it should be connected in this way. Furthermore, in this case, does the part-possessor want to enter the parts with a portion, or does he want to enter with his whole self? By saying "part-possessor Devadatta," does he want each part such as the arm to enter with each portion, or does he want each part such as the arm to enter with his whole self completely? This shows the distinction of examination. In order to show that it is unreasonable to examine as before, therefore, if one thinks as in the previous examination, then the feet etc. of the part-possessor named Devadatta, those parts that are on the side of the arm, are not creators, because they have not entered into them, like threads etc. It is said that these should also be connected in order according to the subject, the thing to be proved, the means of proof, and the example. For example, the part of the part-possessor named Devadatta, which is located on the side of the limb arm, is not the creator because it has not entered into the threads etc. of the part of the cloth. Similarly, the part of the part-possessor named Devadatta, which is located on the side of the limb arm, is also not the part of the part-possessor named Devadatta because it has not entered into its limb feet etc.

That which exists on the side of a limb is not composed of it. In order to show whether the latter examination is reasonable or not, if one wants to adopt the latter examination method, then the self of Lhas Byin (a person's name), who possesses limbs, that which exists on the side of the hand, is not composed of his feet, etc., because it does not enter those parts, just like cows, etc. After saying this, those are also respectively combined in order as the subject, the property to be established, the establishing property, and the example. For example, whatever is the self of a limbed entity such as a cow, the limbs such as the feet of that limbed entity called Lhas Byin do not enter those parts, therefore, whatever is the self of a limbed entity such as a cow, is not composed of the limbs such as the feet of that limbed entity called Lhas Byin, similarly, the self of that limbed entity called Lhas Byin, which exists on the side of the limb hand, is also because it does not enter the limbs such as the feet of that limbed entity called Lhas Byin, therefore, the self of that limbed entity called Lhas Byin, which exists on the side of the limb hand, is not composed of the limbs such as the feet of that limbed entity called Lhas Byin. For the former examination, the limbed becomes possessed of parts, while for the latter examination, the limbed becomes many, therefore, one should not be attached to it, which is both the conclusion and the result of valid cognition (Sanskrit: pramāṇa). The limbed enters the limbs by way of parts, in the former examination, the limbed becomes possessed of parts, which contradicts the Vaiseṣika school's view that the limbed has no parts. The limbed enters the limbs by way of the entire self, in the latter examination, the limbed becomes many, which contradicts the Vaiseṣika school's view that the limbed is one, therefore, the Vaiseṣikas should not be attached to the limbs and the limbed. The meaning of the debate here is that, in order to establish that the aggregates, etc., are existent for the opponent, at the beginning of the debate, by stating that the reason is not established, it is shown that the agent and the action have no self-nature.

Therefore, saying so is the conclusion and the result of valid cognition. In this eighth chapter of the examination of the agent and action, considering the meaning of this chapter as the result of valid cognition is because others establish that the aggregates, etc., inherently exist. At the beginning of this chapter, in terms of ultimate truth, only the aggregates, elements, and sense bases exist. Because the Blessed One taught the agent and action based on them, by stating that the meaning of the reason is not established, it is shown that both the agent and action are without inherent existence. What is the benefit of showing that the agent and action are without inherent existence? It is to show this. Furthermore, to dispel the claim that showing that the agent and action are without inherent existence is merely a treatise of empty logic, here it should also be established by the source of reliable scriptures. Therefore, in all the Mahayana sutras, it is established that not manifestly engaging in actions with body, speech, and mind is the limit of true action, and so on. That is to show the source that establishes that both the agent and action are without inherent existence. Similarly, in the Sutra Requested by Subduing with the Best of Skill, the Mother Bhagavati Prajnaparamita, it is said: Subduing with the best of skill, there is no agent or one who causes to act on form. There is no agent or one who causes to act on feeling, perception, formations, and consciousness. That which is without an agent or one who causes to act on form, and without an agent or one who causes to act on feeling, perception, formations, and consciousness, that is the Prajnaparamita. Similarly, in the One Hundred Thousand Verses of the Mother Bhagavati Prajnaparamita, it is said: Bhagavati, this Prajnaparamita is uncreated. The Blessed One said: Shariputra, the agent is without an object. Such statements are established. Those are the sources that show the establishment of the agent as being without inherent existence. Similarly,
