Moreover, arguments such as "being distinct due to differences" and "possessing a cause" should also be elaborated upon. The argument that "a non-existent result is not produced by a cause" is because it relies on a cause, and because it is yogurt, these two statements are merely symbolic, made to approximate the manner of definitional sound. Here, yogurt is not caused by milk, but because it is made, is consumable, is distinct due to differences in conditions, possesses a cause, and so on, like other things, this inference should be elaborated upon. From the similarity of non-existence, a result arises because it has a cause, while a rabbit's horn does not arise because it has no cause. Whatever is said is not good, because the previous particularists thought that a rabbit's horn does not arise because it has no cause, but the result is not like that, so like this, because there is a cause, a non-existent result arises, whatever is said shows that it is unreasonable. In order to show its validity, in reality, for anything, whatever cause you think of, you can know that it is not its cause, because it does not exist before it arises, like a rabbit's horn or other things. These should also be related in order to the subject, the property to be proven, the proving property, and the example. For example, a rabbit's horn is completely non-existent, or the cause of other non-existent results, because it does not exist before the result arises, so it is not the cause of any internal or external thing, similarly, for any non-existent result, whatever cause you think of, you should also know that it is not its cause, because it does not exist before the result arises. Furthermore, when someone says that whatever does not exist before it arises, that will arise, because a special promise has been made, so the result is not like a rabbit's horn, etc., it does not possess the rationality of arising, when someone asserts this, also because the inference shown above has already excluded this. This is called the "kina" saying, which is said by the Madhyamikas in order to destroy the tenets of the particularists, because the particularists

The debaters say thus: We equally assert that 'non-existence arises,' and with the assertion that 'whatever does not exist before arising will arise' as a distinction, therefore, what is completely non-existent like a rabbit's horn should not arise, but a result that does not exist before arising will arise, thus making an assertion. If asked: Then, formerly in the ultimate sense, whatever is accepted as the cause of that, one can know that it is not the cause of that, because it does not exist before arising, like a rabbit's horn or something other than that, as the previously stated inference has already refuted it, this is sophistry. It should be known that in the ultimate sense, yogurt does not arise from milk, because it does not exist before arising, like something other than that, therefore, this is merely self-utterance, this is the conclusion that the result does not exist previously, and is not made by the cause, established by valid cognition, and it shows that the opponent's assertion is merely self-satisfaction. Thus, regarding what was said, 'seeing that what did not exist before arises,' if one examines that, is it that what truly exists, or does not exist, or both exists and does not exist arises? Those are not seen in any way, this is the response to the previous statement by the Vaibhashikas, 'seeing that the cloth that did not exist before arises, because there is no valid cognition superior to what is seen, therefore the result did not exist before.' Thus, the wise know that the arising of pots and so on, like the arising of a magical being, is nominal, not ultimately true, because they possess wisdom that does not abide in either extreme, this shows the way in which the Madhyamikas do not accept that the result is made by a cause that did not exist before. It is sufficient to mention it in passing, the occasion itself should be examined, this shows the conclusion that the action of the Vaibhashikas, who assert that 'the cause has become the cause, the result has not become the result, the action is that the result has not become the result, the cause has become the cause,' is unreasonable. Similarly, for others who are in agreement with that, it should be stated appropriately.
