No. If it is said that there is no ability to see one's own nature, then, if the commentary of Sthavira Buddhapālita argues that the eye does not have the ability to see its own nature, so it cannot see form, then it is like that. If that is the case, then the example of the nose flower cannot be used to prove it, meaning that if it is said that the example of the dissimilar dharma that observation does not observe its own nature, such as the nose flower, if it is seen to have fragrance, because it has fragrance, it is also like being able to touch clothes, then it is not feasible to say so. Why is it not feasible? Because nose flowers and others rely on the power of aggregation to produce fragrance, just like contact with flowers makes sesame oil fragrant. Nose flowers and others do not have fragrance in themselves, but rely on the power of aggregation of seeds and soil, etc., and fragrance suddenly arises, and contact with it, other forms, such as clothes, etc., will also become fragrant. For example, sesame oil and others do not have fragrance in themselves, but rely on the power of contact with fragrant flowers, and sesame oil becomes fragrant. Therefore, nose flowers cannot be used as an example of dissimilar dharma that observation does not observe its own nature, so the commentary of Sthavira Buddhapālita is unreasonable. Because no one admits that there is an act of observing form, it is also unreasonable to prevent it. It means that Sthavira Buddhapālita prevents saying that observation does not observe its own nature, so it cannot observe other things, which is also unreasonable. Like this, if someone admits that the eye has the ability to observe its own nature, and has this ability, so there is an act of observing form, then it is reasonable to prevent it. Since no one admits this, it is also unreasonable to prevent it. If, like not clinging to oneself, it is also proved that one does not cling to other things, then even so, one cannot use examples to prove it, because fire and nose flowers and others do not cling to the nature of themselves and others. It means that if Sthavira

If it is argued that just as Sthavira Buddhapalita's eye does not grasp itself, it also does not grasp other forms, then even so, if one sees the heat of fire and thinks that water also has heat, or if one sees that a nose flower has fragrance and thinks that clothes also have fragrance, such a statement is untenable. Because, in the ultimate sense, fire neither burns itself nor others; a nose flower neither makes itself fragrant nor makes others fragrant. Therefore, that is unreasonable. Saying "that is unreasonable" means that the commentator says that Sthavira Buddhapalita's explanation is unreasonable. Therefore, in that way, the eye cannot be established as seeing, so birth cannot be established, nor can going, because there is no example. Saying "because there is no example" is the conclusion and the result of valid cognition. Therefore, in that way, if analyzed by reason, the eye cannot be established as seeing, so in the previous establishment of the prior thesis, in the ultimate sense, the internal sense bases should only be understood as birth, because of the determination of their respective objects. Here, for that which is unborn, there is no determination of respective objects, just as the sense bases of a barren woman's son have no determination of respective objects. The mentioned birth also cannot be established. Going should be understood as existing, because it is the result of action, like seeing forms and so on. The mentioned going also cannot be established. Why? Because in the previous establishment of the prior thesis, the internal sense bases have such a determination of respective objects, that is, seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting, and touching, and the objects of mind are forms, sounds, smells, tastes, tangibles, and dharmas, in that order. Because there are no such examples as mentioned. Or, it is also self-contradictory. If the opponent argues that, conventionally, seeing is seeing forms, then those arguments contradict the ultimate meaning and are also self-contradictory, so that is also not acceptable. Here it is said: You fabricate the meaning to be established, saying that the eye can see forms.
