Therefore, combination must be done, because if it is not so, it will not be done, and conversely, because it exists, it will be done, which is obviously the reason. If it appears like this, what fault will there be? Therefore, for the time being, in terms of conventional truth, this reason itself is not established, and the fault of contradictory meaning will arise. Why? Like this, If in conventional truth, the cause has the effect, then it is impossible for the cause to act on what already exists, just as it is impossible for sound to be seen by the eyes, this is the reason that is not established. If in conventional truth, the cause does not have the effect, then it is impossible for the cause to act on what does not exist, for example, the cause of the pot is clay, but the effect, the pot, does not exist, but is produced by various conditions. Your proposition that "the cause acts on the effect that existed earlier" is itself a contradictory meaning. Therefore, for the time being, the Samkhya school's view that the effect exists before the cause, established by "because it does not act on what does not exist," is not established even in terms of conventional truth. In terms of ultimate truth, there is neither reason nor example, and if it is to be established in ultimate truth, then from our side, in ultimate truth, all dharmas are unborn, therefore your reason and example cannot be established at all. Whatever exists earlier in something, then it will not arise from that thing, like the nature of the cause itself, therefore the proposition has the fault of excluding the difference of the subject, these are the five views of the Samkhya school that establish the effect existing before the cause. "It does not act on what does not exist, because it takes the cause; everything does not arise, because; it produces the capable by ability, because; there is a cause, therefore there is an effect." These all show the reasoning of general refutation. For example, the nature of the cause, where the nature of the cause existed earlier, then the nature of the cause will not arise from there, similarly, if according to the view of the Samkhya school, the effect existed earlier in the cause, then the effect must not arise from the cause, therefore, the Samkhya school's proposition that the effect existed earlier in the cause excludes the difference of the subject of the cause, that is, the production of the effect, and there is the fault of not producing the effect from the subject of the cause, therefore.

Therefore, the so-called "the effect exists prior in the cause" means this. If someone says that those who assert the non-existence of the effect prior, want to blame the fault of excluding the difference of the nature of the subject in the proposition, so they put forward reasons such as "because the non-existent cannot produce." For anything, if it does not exist before, then there will be no function, etc., like a rabbit's horn. Therefore, those who assert the non-existence of the effect prior, for their own proposition of the non-existence of the effect prior, there is also the fault of excluding function, etc. This is what this sentence wants to express. The Samkhya school's scriptures say: "Because the non-existent cannot produce, therefore take the cause; because everything cannot produce, therefore there is ability; ability produces ability, therefore there is effect; because there is cause, therefore there is effect." These five points can be established as five forms of scriptures, and can also be established as five forms of non-scriptures. Among them, to establish as five forms of scriptures, it means that the Samkhya school, starting from the tenets they acknowledge, takes the existence of the effect prior in the cause as the reason for the form of the scriptures, that is, "because the non-existent cannot produce, so the effect exists prior; because taking the cause, so the effect exists prior; because everything cannot produce, so the effect exists prior; because ability produces ability, so the effect exists prior; because there is cause, so the effect exists prior." These five forms of scriptures are just as mentioned before. To establish as five forms of non-scriptures, it means that the Samkhya school, for those who assert the non-existence of the effect prior in the cause, such as the Buddha, in order to blame the fault of excluding the difference of the nature of the subject in their proposition, the reasons put forward are "because the non-existent cannot produce, so exclude the difference of the nature of the subject; because not taking the cause, so exclude the difference of the nature of the subject; because everything cannot produce, so exclude the difference of the nature of the subject; because ability cannot produce ability, so exclude the difference of the nature of the subject; because there is no cause, so exclude the difference of the nature of the subject," in order to establish the fault. Therefore, here, they say that our five forms of scriptures are the Samkhya school's own forms of scriptures for the existence of the effect prior in the cause.
