It should be viewed in this way. The so-called "like a cataract" means that the nature of conditioned things, which is the attachment to the view of individuals and phenomena, should be viewed as a cataract because it appears meaningless. The so-called "like a lamp" means that the characteristic of consciousness arises and burns depending on the wick of karma and the oil of craving, so it should be viewed as a lamp. The characteristic of the object of experiencing taste is shown by the example of illusion, because it appears as an error. The characteristic of realizing faults is twofold: realizing impermanence and realizing suffering. Among them, the example of dew shows the realization of impermanence, because it does not last long. The example of a water bubble shows the realization of suffering, because feeling is like a water bubble, and whatever feeling it may be, it is said to be suffering here. All feelings should be known as the suffering of the three types of suffering, that is, the feeling of suffering, and the actions that are in accordance with it, are the suffering of suffering. The feeling of happiness, and the actions that are in accordance with it, are the suffering of the suffering of change. The feeling that is neither suffering nor happiness, and the actions that are in accordance with it, are the suffering of the suffering of action. Realizing renunciation

Should be observed. This means that the objects of meaning symbolized by those nine similes are shown, how the nature of the five aggregates appears, and dependent origination is caused by the aggregation of causes and conditions, hence it is called conditioned. The characteristics of all conditioned things should be viewed in this way. These are that a Bodhisattva should always desire to examine the nature of all conditioned things in this way, abide by aspiration, accomplish it by entering into yoga, cut off distractions, and then diligently grasp the mind, and also show the profound and vast by placing the entire body of the Perfection of Wisdom. Therefore, there is no place for fear here. Those with intelligence should cultivate forbearance after thoroughly examining it, as it is said, which is the conclusion and introduction to correct view. Thus, as shown by reason and scriptural authority, therefore, in the Tathagata's scriptures and Madhyamaka treatises, even in conventional truth, there is no place for fear of thinking that there are no objects that can be approximated as self and phenomena. Those with intelligence should establish the basis of conditioned arising, etc., which can be approximated as self and phenomena in conventional truth, as names, like dreams, etc., and thoroughly examine them as being without self-nature in ultimate truth, as the scholar, the virtuous one, said. Others say that the Bhagavan taught illusion, mirage, image, Gandharva city, dream, dizziness, water bubble, and banana tree trunk as metaphors for the selflessness of conditioned things. Here, there is no truth or infallible truth, these are all elaborations, and these are also false, as it has been said. The so-called all phenomena are without self, and without self means without self-nature, because the sound of self is the word of self-nature, as it is said, which is the characteristic of arising, etc.

When explaining the verses that say these three are similar to the three examples of dreams, etc., the commentator Sthavira Buddhapalita says to combine it in this way. Others say that what appears as self here is the erroneous suchness, and the word "self" is also a word of "mine," so those have neither self nor other, nor are they themselves, just like Ishvara, because that source is for distinguishing the meaning of the word "person non-self" in the Hearer Vehicle, so it cannot show the non-self of phenomena. If it could show it, then completely accepting other vehicles would be meaningless, so saying this is the commentator himself refuting that Sthavira Buddhapalita's explanation is unreasonable. Others say, another is oneself, so the teacher Sthiramati says, Sthavira Buddhapalita said that the Blessed One showed illusions and mirages, etc., as examples of the non-self of phenomena, and said that non-self means without own-being, because the word "self" is a word of own-being, saying this is unreasonable. Why? Because that source spoken by the Blessed One was spoken as examples, meanings, and words for distinguishing the meaning of person non-self in the Hearer Vehicle, but Sthavira Buddhapalita said that those are examples, meanings, and words for distinguishing the meaning of phenomena non-self, so saying this. It is shown in this way that in the Hearer Vehicle, in the ultimate sense, there is no person self or the own-being of mine, but in the conventional sense, what appears as self is because of the erroneous suchness. Because the Blessed One showed the person non-self to those, so he said non-self, the word "self" that is said is not a word of phenomena, but a word of mine, therefore those five aggregates have neither other person self, nor are those five aggregates themselves self, for example, not Ishvara, therefore for Ishvara also
