Just as there is no other change than merely sleeping in the same bed, similarly, when dharmas enter the three times, it is merely a change of state from the future to the present and the past, merely a change of state, but the very nature of the dharmas does not change, they say. To this, the Sutra masters say, if that is the case, it is merely a difference of state, and there is no difference in substance, then the three times will be confused. But this is not a valid answer. Just as the Venerable Vasumitra said, if the substance of the three times exists in the same state, then it will be confused, but because of the change of state, it will not be confused. Here, the Madhyamikas will answer in another way: From the point of view of ultimate truth, the future is not the self-nature of substance, because it is the self-nature of future substance, just like the self-nature of present substance. Therefore, Vasumitra infers that things are substance, and if the past and the future are substance like the present, then the two of them will also become the present, because the past and the future are excluded, so his commitment also has the fault of excluding the self-nature of the subject, so it is not allowed, just like answering like this. The one who says that other things will change is the Sthavira master of the Vaibhashikas, the Venerable Buddha-deva. He says, for example, a woman, depending on the different relationships of before and after, can be called a daughter in relation to her mother, and can be called a mother in relation to her son. For her, it is only a change according to the different relationships of before and after, but the woman herself does not change. Similarly, when dharmas enter the three times, it is only in relation to other futures that the present and the past are said to be different, but the very nature of the dharmas does not change, they say. To this, the Sutra masters say, if that is the case, it is only said to be different from the relationship of before and after, but the thing itself is not different, then the three times will be confused. But this is not a valid answer. Just as the Venerable Buddha-deva said, the substance of the three times, such as mother and son, if they exist in the same state, then they will be confused, but because they depend on the relationship of before and after, they will change, so they will not be confused.

That is why it is said. Here, the Madhyamikas will answer it in another way: In the ultimate sense, the future is not the nature of things, because it is the nature of future things, just like the nature of present things. Therefore, the Buddha infers things as the nature of things. If the past, future, and present are all the nature of things, then these two will also be the same. In order to exclude the past and future, his proposition also has the fault of excluding the self-nature of the subject, so it is not allowed. This is the answer given. These are to show a little aspect for the sake of the diligent ones, and it is enough to talk about it in passing. If the Samkhyas say that there is no fault in the manifestation of the existence of things, then here the Samkhyas will say: In our side, things exist as the nature of ability in the future, and are manifested in the present time through various causes, so the fault you said does not exist in our side. To their saying that, the interpreter here says: That is not reasonable, because manifestation has been prevented. How can one know that the unborn exists? This is a question asked by the Madhyamikas to the Samkhyas and Vaisheshikas. In response, the Samkhyas and Vaisheshikas replied: The unborn can only be known to exist, because it is included in time, just like the present thing. They also correspond to the subject, the proposition, the reason, and the example in order. For example, the present thing can only be known to exist because it is included in time, similarly, the future unborn can also only be known to exist because it is included in time. To their saying that, the interpreter here says: In the ultimate sense, the present thing is also not established as existing in its own nature, so there is no example, so the meaning to be established cannot be established. Because we think that the future in the ultimate sense
