After that, make a lump of clay into a shape similar to a stupa. After that, flatten the top of the lump with the palm of your hand, making it look like a sign of peace. After that, flatten it from the top of the flattening, making it look like an umbrella. After that, insert your hand into the middle of the flattened part, close the opening, and make it look like a begging bowl. Because the differences in the state of clay and so on arise gradually, just as the nature of the conditioned of a vase is not real, so too, birth and so on also arise gradually, so the nature of the conditioned of things is not reasonable. If you say that birth and so on are not mistaken, because they do not exist in the unconditioned, then the Vaibhashikas here also think that although birth and so on arise gradually, the basis of nature, the conditioned, is not mistaken, so it is the nature itself. They say, you Madhyamikas say that birth and so on arise from the conditioned with confusion, so these are not the nature, but this is not the case. If birth and so on also exist in the category of the unconditioned, then it can be said that these arise from the conditioned with confusion, so it is not the nature of the conditioned. But birth and so on do not exist in the category of the unconditioned, so these are not confused from the conditioned, so even if they arise gradually, they are the nature of the conditioned. As an answer to this statement, the explanation here is only an approximate speculation, not ultimately existing, and so on. Even if birth and so on do not exist in the unconditioned, but if there are three at the same time in the continuum of one thing, then it can be said that these are not confused in the conditioned, and these will also become the nature of the conditioned, but this is not the case, these arise from the conditioned with confusion, so it is not the nature of the conditioned. If you think that because these do not exist in the unconditioned, they gradually arise in the conditioned, and it is the nature, then this is an approximate speculation, not ultimately existing. Why is that?

It is said that it is to prevent birth, and for the unborn, there is no abiding and destruction. It is said that even at the time of birth, there is no abiding and destruction of those natures, those are not the natures of those, because they are not in accordance with those. It is said that even at the time of birth, birth is the nature of no abiding and destruction, it is not the nature of abiding and destruction, because birth is not in accordance with abiding and destruction, so those are not the characteristics of conditioned phenomena. If one thinks of the nature of those in the manner of later arising, it is only a mere term, and the fault as shown before cannot be avoided. It means that conditioned phenomena do not have three characteristics now, even if one thinks of the nature of those three characteristics in the manner of later arising, it is only a mere term, and the fault of showing that those are not the characteristics of conditioned phenomena cannot be avoided. Therefore, in this way, birth and so on, each individually and combined, because the nature of conditioned phenomena is not established, the fault of reasoning is not avoided. This is the conclusion and the result of valid cognition, like this, because the existence of characteristics is not established, so the non-Buddhists previously truly thought that the conditioned aggregates, elements, and sense bases have the nature of conditioned phenomena, one must hold on to them, because birth and so on have the characteristics of conditioned phenomena. The reasoning stated in this way is not established, and the fault stated before is not avoided, it still exists. Also, furthermore, it is said that birth and so on, which show the characteristics of conditioned phenomena, do those have other characteristics of conditioned phenomena, or do they not? This shows that if the two are examined. In order to show the first examination among them. For birth and abiding and destruction, if there is another characteristic of conditioned phenomena, then there is no end. Because for that there is another, and for that there is another, so there will be no end, that is not desirable, do not wish to be in accordance with birth and so on. In order to show the last examination. If you think so, then for that also repeat that, if not, those are not conditioned phenomena. Thus it is said.
