Therefore, the term "therefore" refers to the characteristic of inference as previously shown. Thus, things do not arise from others, which means it has been demonstrated that, ultimately, external and internal things do not arise from others. The second common statement of commitment has been explained. Now, we will establish the third through the common statement of commitment. Therefore, the Samkhyas say that from the differentiated and undifferentiated agents, etc., and the characteristics of seeds, something called "fruit sprout" arises. Since they think it arises from both, therefore, for them, it is said "not arising from two." "Not arising from self and other" is a synonym, and so on. This shows that in order to refute the Samkhya heretics' view that things arise from both self and other, it is explained that "not arising from two." It is explained like this: I previously stated the four common ways of commitment, among which, the first common commitment, that things do not arise from themselves, and the second common commitment, that things do not arise from others, have already been established. After that, now we will establish the third common statement of commitment, that things do not arise from both. Among them, the term "Samkhyas" refers to the Samkhya heretics themselves. The term "agent" refers to the cause and condition of something called "fruit sprout," that is, differentiated and undifferentiated. The term "differentiated" refers to existing in different parts, that is, conditions such as earth. The term "undifferentiated" refers to not existing in different parts, that is, the seed cause. In order to explain the differentiated aspect of the agent, it is said "earth, etc.," that is, earth, water, fire, and wind. In order to explain the undifferentiated aspect of the agent, it is said "seed," that is, grains such as barley. The term "characteristic" refers to the characteristic of earth, etc., and the characteristic of seeds. The term "from those" refers to from the differentiated and undifferentiated agents, earth, etc., and the characteristics of seeds. "Fruit sprout" arises.

It is said that "the fruit which is called sprout is the fruit which is called fruit sprout." It is said that "it is born" means that the non-Buddhist Samkhyas say that the fruit called fruit sprout is born from the differentiated and undifferentiated causes of production, such as earth, and from the nature of seeds. Because they think that it is born from two, it means that they think that all things are born from self and other. Because the undifferentiated cause of production, that is, the nature of the seed, is not different from the nature of the fruit called fruit sprout, therefore all things are born from self; and because the differentiated cause of production, that is, the nature of earth and so on, is different from the nature of the fruit called fruit sprout, therefore all things are born from other. Similarly, because the undifferentiated cause of production, that is, the nature of clay, yarn, paint, etc., is not different from the nature of the fruit pot, blanket, coarse cloth, etc., therefore all things are born from self; and because the differentiated cause of production, that is, the nature of sprout, wheel, etc., spindle, copper wire, etc., tools, coarse cloth maker, etc., is different from the nature of the fruit pot, blanket, coarse cloth, etc., therefore all things are born from other. Similarly, because the undifferentiated cause of production, that is, the nature of dimness, etc., is not different from the nature of the fruit eye, etc., therefore all things are born from self; and because the differentiated cause of production, that is, the nature of karma and affliction, etc., is different from the nature of the fruit eye, etc., therefore they think that all things are born from other. Therefore, to them, because the Samkhyas think that it is born from two, therefore, in order to refute them, the Acharya Nagarjuna said to them, "It is not born from two," and it should be connected in this way. So, what is it that is not born from two? Therefore, it is said that "it is not born from self and other." The meaning of refutation is as before.
