. From the Sutra Taught by the Noble Inexhaustible Intellect: The son of the Noble Śāradvatī asked the Noble Inexhaustible Intellect: "Son of good family, where do you come from?" He replied: "Venerable son of Śāradvatī, do you still have a concept of coming?" The elder said: "I fully understand concepts." The Noble Inexhaustible Intellect said: "One who possesses complete understanding of concepts does not have dualistic thoughts. Because one who possesses complete understanding of concepts does not fixate on duality, therefore there is no conceptualization. Furthermore, the term 'no coming' is a term of universal connection, and the term 'going' is a term of separation. For one who does not have a term of universal connection or a term of separation in ultimate reality, there is neither coming nor going. No coming and no going is the going of the noble ones." The elder asked: "How does one realize the reality of no coming and no going? If it does not accord with reality, there will be conceptualizations of going and coming." What was said is established. Son of good family, it is said that the Tathāgata has no coming or going. A bodhisattva, constantly engaged in the heightened intention of listening to the Prajñāpāramitā, sees limitless Tathāgatas. When he arises from that samādhi, those Tathāgatas disappear. Then, he gradually went to the city of Spices and asked the Noble Dharma Protector: "Son of good family, after I saw limitless Tathāgatas, they disappeared. Where did they come from, and where did they go?" Dharma Protector said: "Son of good family, the Tathāgatas have no coming or going. What is Suchness, that is the Tathāgata. Son of good family, at the true limit there is no coming or going. What is the true limit, that is the Tathāgata. Similarly, emptiness, signlessness, birthlessness, cessationlessness, etc., have no coming or going. What is emptiness, etc., that is the Tathāgata. Similarly, illusion, mirage, dream, Gandharva city,

Towns and so on have no coming and going. Whatever is illusion and so on, that is the Tathagata. Son of the lineage, in ultimate reality, there is no object of focus. In conventional terms, for example, the sound of a lute arises from relying on strings, wood, the body of the lute, and human effort. However, that sound is not focused on the causes such as the strings, nor is it focused on anything other than the strings. Son of the lineage, similarly, by relying on the roots of virtue and the praise of the minds of those who seek, the Tathagata is seen. However, the Tathagata is not focused on each of those causes. This is what was said, and it is established. There is no coming or going here. All phenomena are like the sky. This is what is said in the Sutra Requested by the Especially Mind of Holy Brahma. The meaning of unborn is also not established. Similarly, that which has not even a particle of dust to go to or come from is the Perfection of Wisdom of the Bodhisattva. Coming and going are not apparent in it. Completely suppressing with extreme force, coming and going are not apparent in form. Coming and going are not apparent in feeling, perception, formations, and consciousness. For whom coming and going of form, feeling, perception, formations, and consciousness are not apparent, that is the Perfection of Wisdom, and so on. Those things that were said are established. This is from the Sutra of the Perfection of Wisdom of the Bhagavati Mother, Completely Suppressing with Extreme Force, which shows that all phenomena have no coming and going. In those and other endless sutras, the meaning of dependent origination is that there is no coming and no going. The meaning of the scriptural authority that was spoken is established, and with those sources of credible scriptural authority, in order to establish the negation of coming and going, it is not established merely by dry philosophical treatises. This is the concluding statement. Thus, whatever are the limits of the sutras that show there is no going and coming, those are the occasions for elaborating on no going and no coming.
