Saying "because 'itself' is one part of the meaning of the commitment, it is not established," is not good, because this combination of words does not have such a characteristic. To illustrate this, it is said, "The sound of poetry is impermanent, because it is sound," like the sound of a large drum. This shows that when a particular thing is taken as an object, the nature of a universal thing is an example. Here, "the sound of poetry" is the subject to be established, and "impermanent" is the dharma to be proven. "Because it is sound" is the establishing dharma. "Like the sound of a large drum" is the example. Among them, "the sound of poetry" is the four Vedas of the non-Buddhist debaters. Namely, the Veda of definitive expression, the Veda of sacrifice, the Veda of poetry, and the Veda of protecting the state. Among them, "the Veda of poetry" refers to sound, which is the nature of letters. The particular thing "the sound of poetry" has the dharma to be proven—impermanence—and the establishing dharma—because it is universal sound—so it is the subject to be established. "Impermanence" is to prove that the particular thing, the sound of poetry, is impermanent, which is an inference of its impermanence. "Because it is sound" shows that it is the nature of a universal thing. If you ask, why is the particular thing, the sound of poetry, impermanent? Because it is universal sound, so it is also impermanent. Just like "like the sound of a large drum," just as the particular thing, the sound of a large drum, is impermanent because it is universal sound, the particular thing, the sound of poetry, is also impermanent because it is universal sound. Just like "this is a tree, because it is a sal tree." It is explained in this way that, just like this combination of words, taking the particular thing, the sound of poetry, as an object, shows that sound is the nature of a universal thing, so even if it is a part of the meaning of the commitment, it cannot be taken as a reason. That's it.

And, here too, for other causes that have been completely examined, such as the blurry and the slow, etc., other special things are taken as one side, showing that it is the dharma of the other universal side, therefore, even if that is one side of the meaning of what is promised, it is suitable to be a reason, connect in this way. In order to show that point, it is said, "Because it is seen that one side of the meaning of what is promised itself is established as a reason," this shows the meaning of taking special things as one side, being the dharma of the universal side. To this, "What is promised" is a special thing, for example, just as promising that the sound of poetry and the sound of a large drum, etc., special things are impermanent, here too it is promised that the internal sense bases, etc., are not produced from those other special causes, and, the special things that establish the other internal sense bases such as the eye, etc., that one wants to say, are definitely not causes. What is called "one side of its meaning" is universal, for example, just as saying that sound is universal, here too it is shown because the other is universal. What is called "because it is seen that it itself is established as a reason" is, for taking one side of the meaning of what is promised as one side of a special thing, showing that it is the dharma of the universal side, because it is seen that that itself is established as a reason in both what is to be established and the example. What is called "the reason is uncertain" is because the reason of those who speak of production is one side of the meaning of what is promised. For example, just as saying "sound is permanent, because it is sound," saying that is uncertain. Like this, for example, just as saying "sound is permanent, because it is sound," without taking special things as one side, and without showing that it is the dharma of the universal side, even if it is one side of the meaning of what is promised, it cannot be a reason. For example, the sound of poetry is impermanent, because it is sound. For example, just as saying "it is the sound of a large drum," taking special things as one side, showing that it is the dharma of the universal side, even if it is one side of the meaning of what is promised, also because it is seen that it itself is established as a reason, therefore, speaker of production, that reason of yours is uncertain, it is not okay.
