Those other sects who speak of causes, because they want to say that is the cause itself, it is called wanting to say. That which is called "those that accomplish the inner sense bases such as the eye" is because the causes, such as the moist and the damp, those are conventionally the ones that accomplish the inner sense bases such as the eye. It is called "those that manifestly accomplish the inner sense bases such as the eye." Among them, that which is called "inner sense bases such as the eye" is that from the inner sense bases, there are the eye, ear, nose, tongue, body, and mind, those can be summarized as the inner sense bases such as the eye. That which is called "those that accomplish the inner sense bases such as the eye" is also, from causes, karma, and afflictions, as well as semen, blood, the moist and the damp, etc., whichever have the function of accomplishing the inner sense bases such as the eye, those can be summarized as those that accomplish the inner sense bases such as the eye. This "wanting to say, those that accomplish the inner sense bases such as the eye" is the object to be inferred, it is the subject, it is the property-possessor. Among them, that which is called "to be inferred" is the basis for inferring the non-existence of things from the invisible, and inferring impermanence from its nature, and inferring the cause from the result. In this case, whatever is determined to be non-cause, that is the basis for what is to be inferred, that is, wanting to say, those that accomplish the inner sense bases such as the eye. That is the subject, called the subject, the subject is the collection of dharma and property-possessor. In this case, whatever is determined not to be the property-possessor to be proven, and whatever is the basis property-possessor to be proven, that is, wanting to say, those that accomplish the inner sense bases such as the eye, the subject that combines these two is called the subject. That is the property-possessor, called the property-possessor, the property-possessor is the basis to be inferred, which has both the dharma to be proven and the dharma to establish, that is the property-possessor. In this case, that is, wanting to say, those that accomplish the inner sense bases such as the eye.

Whatever is to be established as a basis, which is called "certainly not a condition," is known to both the opponent and the proponent; and, to establish that "certainly not a condition," the dharma itself, which is called "otherness," is also known to both the opponent and the proponent; the existence of these two is called "subject of dharma." "Certainly not a condition" means that it is a negation of conditions such as bright and moist, etc., for the internal sense bases such as the eye, etc., are certainly not conditions. "Certainly not a condition" indicates inference, which is the dharma to be established. Inference is to infer the absence of things from non-perception, to infer impermanence from nature, and to infer the cause from the effect. The question here is that one wishes to state another basis for inference, that is, for those who accomplish the internal sense bases such as the eye, etc., to infer their certainty of not being conditions. That is called the "thesis," and the thesis is the collection of dharma and the subject of dharma. Here, "the dharma to be established is certainly not the subject of dharma," and "in what, one wishes to state the basis of that which is to be established, another dharma, that is, those who accomplish the internal sense bases such as the eye, etc.," the collection of these two is called the "thesis." That is called the "dharma to be established," and the "dharma to be established" is the absence of things, impermanence, and cause. Here, for those who wish to state another dharma, that is, those who accomplish the internal sense bases such as the eye, etc., the dharma to be established is to establish that "certainly not a condition." "Because it is other" means that, relative to conditions such as bright and moist, etc., the internal sense bases of the eye, etc., have become other, therefore it is otherness; that is, relative to conditions such as bright and moist, etc., the internal sense bases of the eye, etc., have become other, therefore that is otherness, therefore, the internal sense bases of the eye, etc., have become other, therefore it is certain that they are not the conditions of those, therefore, conditions such as bright and moist, etc., are other.
