As it is said. Therefore, through it, one can understand the distinctions of the Sutras and so on. From where, sentient beings, individuals, and persons have taught. Know that all those teachings are of straightforward meaning. As it is said. Therefore, for those who have not realized, what needs to be realized is what they need to comprehend. Wanting to realize means wanting them to comprehend. As the scriptures say, not by one's own intelligence. In this way, this composition will not become repetitive and meaningless, because it is to guide the wisdom of those who are not skilled in speculating and refuting sentient beings. Or, as the scriptures say, it is to explain the definitive meaning and the provisional meaning as they are. Therefore, in order to avoid the error of reversing the definitive meaning and the provisional meaning, there is no fault in explaining. Regarding the word "Madhyamaka," "Madhyamaka" means essence, and among all languages and words, this Middle Way is supreme and essential. Other scriptures are not essential because they teach the extremes of nihilism and eternalism. But Madhyamaka eliminates the extremes of nihilism and eternalism, therefore it is essential, so it is called Madhyamaka. Or, "Madhyamaka" means that it is extracted from the treatises that gather the way of Prajnaparamita, such as the sky-like teachings on non-origination, so it is Madhyamaka. Or, "Madhyamika" means that it abandons the extremes of existence and non-existence, therefore the Middle Way is taught here. Although this treatise fully explains the method of abandoning the two extremes, for the sake of those who are amazed at abandoning the two extremes, a small part will be briefly explained. Ultimately, all things are unborn, therefore there is no clinging to the extreme of existence, and there is no clinging to the extreme of non-existence. Just as something is designated as non-existent after it has perished, for example, something is designated as short in relation to long, and something is designated as this shore in relation to the other shore. If, ultimately, things are unborn, then what perishes to become non-existent, or in relation to what is it designated?

The teacher said: If things are not established, then non-things will not be established either. Things change into others, and people say that this is a non-thing. It is like saying this. Treatise, called a treatise, is for subduing the enemies of afflictions, and for protecting from the fear of evil destinies, so it is called a treatise. Or, treatise, called a treatise, is for subduing the enemies of conceptualization, and for attaining the inconceivable and rare three bodies, so it is a treatise. Or, treatise, called a treatise, is for showing the peaceful Dharma, and for showing the three trainings of higher discipline, higher mind, and higher wisdom, and the three liberations taught by the Thus-Gone One Shakyamuni, so it is a treatise. To be explained, it is said that therefore, because of these reasons, the explanation of half of the commentary is written, because it is not without fruit, so as the scriptures say, the treatise on Madhyamaka will be explained, this is the concluding word. Regarding the connection of the treatise, it is said that regarding, this word regarding, is to bring the words of the connection of the treatise closer, so it is connected first, the word treatise, is only explaining what has just passed. Connection, there are two types, rational connection and meaning connection. Among them, the rational connection is the lineage of the guru, showing how the Buddha, the Bhagavan, and the author of the treatise arise as causes. The meaning connection is showing the meaning of the limbs, by showing the rational connection, to show the meaning of all the limbs of the scriptures. Among them, first, the cause of the arising of the guru, the holy Buddha, the Bhagavan, will be shown, and later, the cause of the arising of the author of the treatise will be shown. Therefore, in order to show that, for this, the Bhagavan, with supreme compassion, possesses extremely increasing wisdom. In countless eons, bearing the immeasurable burden of the accumulation of merit and wisdom, when he does so, for the benefit of others, and with the suffering of separating from his own life
