In order to produce the non-difference of the two, it is called a property. The so-called "manifestation" refers to the Samkhya school's view that it is established through the cause of the fruit and obtains its own nature, which is called the examination of "manifestation." Here, it is necessary to prove that the nature of manifestation is not different from the nature of ability. Therefore, to prove that the nature of manifestation is not different from the nature of ability is called Dharma. Here, because there is no difference in the homogeneous cause, non-difference is proved. Why is the nature of manifestation not different from the nature of ability? Because the nature is not different, that is, the nature of ability and manifestation are not different, so the nature of manifestation is not different from the nature of ability. How is it non-different? Because there is no difference in the homogeneous cause, it is called non-difference. What is it like? It's like my own nature. For example, just as manifestation is not different from my own nature, ability is also not different from manifestation, so the nature of manifestation is not different from the nature of ability. Similarly, just as ability is not different from my own nature, manifestation is also not different from ability, so the nature of manifestation is not different from the nature of ability. In this way, showing that the two, ability and manifestation, are not different is itself the fruit of valid cognition (pramana), because it is for showing this. What arises from that is called arising from self-nature, so it is said. What arises from that refers to what cannot be different from manifestation. Thus it is shown that because the two, ability and manifestation, are not different in nature, just like my own nature, it is established that only the nature of manifestation arises from the nature of manifestation, which is the concluding remark. Therefore, it is said, "Because it arises from self-nature," thus showing that only the nature of manifestation arises from the nature of manifestation. In this way, the statement that things arise from self-nature is precisely the tenet of your Samkhya school, so I am not falsely imposing it on you. The so-called "the prior thesis is established" means that I did not arbitrarily fabricate the prior thesis, but rather made such a commitment and...

Through the reason and the validity of the example as shown above, since your tenet of the Samkhya school states that things arise from the 'self,' therefore my prior thesis is established. Therefore, your tenet states that things arise from the 'self,' and I take this as the prior thesis. My refuting and rebutting that things do not arise from the 'self' is merely a rational act. This is the concluding statement. Even if the thesis has been fully examined, there is no fault in fully accepting it in order to state the unreasonableness. The commentator says that even if one has already refuted the arbitrarily attached prior thesis, there is no fault. Among these, 'even if the thesis has been fully examined' means that even if no one admits that things arise from the 'self,' but since one speaks of arising and ceasing, it must be determined whether the arising of these things is from the 'self,' or from other, both, or without a cause. Therefore, I attach 'even if the thesis has been fully examined, there is no fault' to the thesis. Why is there no fault? Because it is for the sake of stating the unreasonableness. The so-called 'unreasonableness' is arising. 'For the sake of stating' is for the sake of refuting. This shows that in order to refute the unreasonableness of things not arising in the ultimate sense, there is no fault even if the thesis has been examined. 'Fully accepting it' is fully accepting the refutation of arising. 'No fault' is no fault of contradicting inference. Thus, for the time being, 'things do not arise from the 'self'' is the general outline of the previous commitment. In the statement 'things do not arise from the 'self,' do not arise from other, do not arise from both, do not arise from no cause,' this is the conclusion of the argument that things do not arise from the 'self.' Among these, 'thus' means that since there exists the faultless reason of inference as shown above, it is established that things do not arise from the 'self.'
