If another reason is used to establish a concordant meaning, I have not said that there is no arising in the nature of the effect. Like this, from the nature of the effect, or from the nature of the cause, without making a specific statement, it only prevents arising from self. But you have made a specific statement from the nature of the effect, or from the nature of the cause, therefore we do not agree with each other. My prevention of things arising from self is not a reason for establishment. If asked, how is it not a contradictory meaning? Therefore, it is said, "Even from the nature of the cause," and so on. Even if it is established that things do not arise from the nature of the cause, it will not become a meaning that contradicts worldly convention. Like this, you say: all things that arise are only born from what exists in the nature of the cause, then please observe here. Is the seed called the cause of the sprout the sprout's own nature? Or is it another nature? Please observe in any case. To this, because I eliminate arising from both self and other, it will not become a contradictory meaning. This is shown by saying: if the seed of the sprout's cause is its own nature, and what the seed is, is the sprout, then it is well said that there is no arising from self. If the nature of the seed is other than the essence of the sprout, then therefore, only later, when showing that things do not arise from other, we will examine it. Wait a moment. Thus, the fault of the reason is refuted. Here, some others who speak of power, apart from the Samkhyas, criticize the example, saying: you have previously determined that the internal sources of arising do not arise from self, because they exist. For example, like the existence of consciousness, when saying the words of combination, it is not permissible to take the existence of consciousness as an example. The existence of consciousness is the very nature of the person, just as warmth is the very nature of fire. Moreover, it does not exist at all times, like this.

As it is said, "With intelligence, one establishes meaning; the individual makes intention." Therefore, when intelligence establishes the meaning of sound, etc., in the continuum and offers it to the individual, at that time, the existing knowingness arises. As long as intelligence does not establish the meaning of sound, etc., in the continuum and does not offer it to the individual, the existing knowingness does not arise. Therefore, although existing knowingness always exists by the characteristic of potentiality, it does not always exist by the characteristic of clarity. Therefore, the example of the existing reason, taken from the existing knowingness, is incomplete in its characteristic, and it becomes a fault of proof. Thus, to dispel the previous assertion made by them, it is said that there is no fault in taking the existing knowingness as fully possessing the characteristic of potentiality. This is what is shown: When the existing knowingness, which has not arisen by the activity of intelligence, exists in the state of the characteristic of potentiality, that existing knowingness is what I have shown as the example itself. Therefore, there is no fault in the example. Among these, the existing knowingness is what was previously determined to be that the internal sources of arising, etc., do not arise from the self, because they exist. Like the existing knowingness, this existing knowingness is shown as the example of the existing reason. The one possessing the characteristic of potentiality is the existing knowingness, which possesses the characteristic of potentiality. That is also the individual of the Samkhya school, who is asserted to exist at all times, so it is existence itself. The reason for fully grasping is that, because I have fully grasped that possessing the characteristic of potentiality as an example of existence, there is no fault in the example of reason. Moreover, the word 'also' means that not only is there no fault in the example of reason because it exclusively grasps the one possessing the characteristic of potentiality, but also there is no fault in the example of reason because it grasps the one possessing the characteristic of clarity. 'Without fault' means that, therefore, in the example of the existing reason, showing the existing knowingness is without fault of the example. Here, others say that things do not arise from the nature of the self, because of those.
