Thus, because of being connected to self, mine, knowledge, power, relatives, etc., therefore, in order to distinguish self, knowledge, power, relatives, etc., here, the term "from self" is synonymous with "from self-nature," meaning that things do not arise from self-nature. By merely vowing, the meaning is not accomplished by the thought of words, which indicates that if the meaning is not accomplished by the teacher's thought of words of non-arising by words alone, then would others also accomplish the meaning by the thought of words of arising? It is not accomplished, therefore, the meaning is not accomplished by the thought of words by merely vowing. As the teacher Arya Deva said: If by the mere word of existence, things could exist, then by the mere word of non-existence, why would they not become non-existent? Therefore, whatever meaning is well expressed by scripture and reasoning, and is free from contradictions between earlier and later, that is what the noble ones fully accept. Just like what was said. Because it is necessary to explain in detail as in the brief teaching, therefore, previously it was said, "There is no arising from self," therefore, here, that itself should be established first. Therefore, here it is said that the property of the subject is to be taken as existence itself. Since the very validity that one wishes to establish is reason itself, here, the property of the subject, which is the reason taken as "things do not arise from self," is the very existence of self. If the very existence of self is the property of the subject, how is that? As an answer to that, it is said: In this way, the term "from self" is spoken because it is applied to the existence of self. In this way, the word "because of what" is the meaning. Because whatever thing has its own nature of self, "from self" can be applied to it, and for the existent, there is also no arising, therefore, existence itself is the property of the subject, the reason for non-arising, this is what is being shown. The term "from self" is because it is applied to the existence of self, meaning that whatever thing has self, that is

It is merely existent, because it can be established as "from itself." For example, in the world, speakers also say that the blue lotus child himself exists, and say "the blue lotus child from himself," similarly, here too, if the thing itself is existent, it can be established as "from itself," and if the thing that can be established as "from itself" is itself existent, then, for existence itself, there is also no arising, therefore, existence itself is considered to be the reason for the dharma of the side of non-arising. For example, the phrase "due to the dharma to be established and the dharma to establish" indicates this meaning: among the birthplaces etc. within the subject, for the dharma to be established, i.e., non-arising from itself, and the dharma to establish, i.e., existence itself is existent, due to these reasons, an example must be given. The phrase "the example is" refers to the fact that from the perspective of ultimate truth, the internal birthplaces etc. are determined to be non-arising from themselves because they are existent. For example, just like the existence of knowledge itself, that is the example given. The phrase "dharma to be established" means that the thing to be established itself is the dharma, so it is the dharma to be established. Or, it is both the thing to be established and also the dharma, so it should be summarized as "dharma to be established," but it should not be summarized as "the dharma to be established." So, what is this dharma to be established? In this case, it should be connected as "non-arising." The phrase "dharma to establish" means that non-arising from itself, non-arising is the dharma to establish, that is, the reason. So, what is this dharma to establish? In this case, it should be connected as "existence itself." The phrase "due to" means that among the birthplaces etc. within the subject, for the dharma to be established, i.e., non-arising from itself is existent, due to this reason, and the dharma to establish, i.e., existence itself is existent, due to this reason, an example of that subject, such as the existence of knowledge itself etc., must be shown. In order to point this out, it is said "because it is an example of a subject related to the dharma to be established and the dharma to establish," that is, among the birthplaces etc. within the subject, for the dharma to be established, i.e., non-arising from itself, is accepted by both the proponent and the opponent, and the dharma to establish, i.e., existence itself, is accepted by both the proponent and the opponent.
