The name is not indicated. "Because it is not understood" means not understanding to what those distinctions such as non-cessation, non-arising, etc., belong. "That is indicated" means that the basis of the distinction, which is dependent arising, is indicated. If, by those who proclaim the fully enlightened Buddhas who have indicated dependent arising, only "I prostrate to that noble one" is said, because the nature of dependent arising is not understood, therefore both the basis of the nature and the nature are mentioned. The sutras also mention the basis of the nature and the nature, therefore the teacher has spoken well. Here, in the context of "dependent arising," the differences in the different thoughts of the teachers are shown. Some say that because the particle of the word "dependent" means repetition, and "arising" means meeting, and the sound "being" means birth, therefore it is dependent arising, that is, arising from relying on and meeting with that and that. Some say, "Some say" means that some Madhyamika proponents say that because the particle of the word "dependent" means repetition, it is applied to "dependent" because the particle of the word "dependent" means repetition for that and that which are determined separately as cause and condition. "Because it means repetition" means that because "dependent" is repeated for that and that which are determined separately as cause and condition, for example, it is like saying "the villages and villages in this place are pleasant." "Arising" means meeting, because it means meeting and relating to whatever fruit is determined separately as cause and condition, for example, it is like saying "the high and low of the balance beam meet and relate." "The sound 'being' means birth" means that it is because the nature of the fruit appears and is born. "Dependent arising" means that.

Therefore, because the causes and conditions are determined separately, and because they arise in dependence on those causes and conditions, it is called dependent arising, which is its definition. The statement "arising in dependence on this and that" is to show the conclusion of the previous meanings of the words, meaning: in dependence on the causes and conditions that are determined separately, the result arises, which is its definition. The term "saying" refers to some Madhyamaka proponents who are not the commentators themselves, and this is their definition. Others say, "The arising of things that are individually destroyed is dependent arising." The term "others say" refers to other Madhyamaka proponents. The statement "the arising of things that are individually destroyed" refers to the collection and arising of results that are individually determined by causes and conditions, and that have destruction in each moment, which is the definition of "arising from encounter." The term "dependent arising" is to show the conclusion of the previous meanings of the words, meaning: the collection and arising of results that are individually determined by causes and conditions, and that have destruction in each moment, that is dependent arising. The term "saying" refers to other Madhyamaka proponents who are not the commentators themselves, and this is their definition. It is not possible for others, because the statement "eye consciousness arises in dependence on the eye and form" does not have two meanings. The term "not others" refers to not others, but oneself, that is, the commentator himself. Therefore, the commentator himself says that both of the previous two Madhyamaka proponents' statements are not possible. The statement "that is also not possible" refers to the fact that both of the previous two Madhyamaka proponents' explanations are not possible. Because the statement "eye consciousness arises in dependence on the eye and form" does not have two meanings. The statement "arising in dependence on this and that," and "each

Because the meaning of arising of those that are individually destructible and possess destructibility, both of these do not exist. If asked, 'How does the meaning of "arising by depending on that and that coming together" not exist?' Therefore, the sutra says: 'It is not in the eye or in the form, nor is it between the two. Where does it change and abide? It is neither existent nor non-existent.' As it is said, this sutra says that eye consciousness is neither in the eye, nor in the form, nor in between the two. Where does eye consciousness change and abide? It is neither existent nor non-existent. Therefore, the arising of eye consciousness does not exist. Since eye consciousness is devoid of self-nature, how can the causes and conditions for its arising, such as the eye, form, light, space, and the attention that arises from them, depend on that and come together? They cannot depend on that and come together. If eye consciousness existed, then it would be possible to come together with these. But if it existed, there would be no need for it to arise. Therefore, since eye consciousness does not exist and does not come together with conditions, this sutra says that "arising by depending on that and that coming together" does not exist. If asked, 'How does the meaning of arising of those that are individually destructible and possess destructibility not exist?' Thus, the causes and conditions are individually determined, and those dharmas that are individually destructible in each moment cease and disappear in each moment only in the state of not being fully established at the time of arising. Therefore, there is no gathering and no production of fruit, so the arising of fruit also does not exist. At the very moment of arising, the fruit is destroyed in each moment, so the meaning of arising of those that are individually destructible and possess destructibility also does not exist. If that is the case, since both of these meanings do not exist, if the tenets of the Madhyamikas are not reasonable, then what is the meaning of dependent arising here? Therefore, it is said: 'Because this exists, that arises; because this arises, this arises.' The meaning of possessing this condition is the meaning of dependent arising. Thus it is said. Having said that, the explanation here is that the meaning of dependent arising is such and such. It should be connected in this way.
