Like Lhas byin and cutting trees, etc. The phrase "not otherness" is the dharma to be established, establishing that the self-nature of the cutter is not other than the self-nature of what is cut. The phrase "because it is measurable" is the dharma to be established, because it has a measure. The phrase "like the self-nature of what is cut" is an example, for example, the self-nature of what is cut is not other than its own self-nature because it is measurable, similarly, the self-nature of cutting is also not other than the self-nature of what is cut because it is measurable. Therefore, since it is the agent and the action, will it become otherness like the cutter and what is cut? Or because it is measurable, will it not be other than the cutter like the self-nature of what is cut? Therefore, it will become a non-contradictory harm, they say. In response to what they said, the commentator here explains, but that is also unreasonable, because the self-nature of what is cut has already been established as not otherness. Because it will not become a non-contradictory harm, this statement was made, but in reality, the self-nature of what is cut has not been established as not otherness. Since it is the agent and the action, will it become otherness like the cutter and what is cut? Or because it is measurable, will it not be otherness like the self-nature of what is cut? Because it will not become a non-contradictory harm, that is also unreasonable. Even if there is a non-contradictory harm, because we do not cling to the two extremes of oneness and otherness, we want to show that it is not actually established, therefore the wish will be fulfilled, meaning: even if, as you say, the cutter and what is cut are not otherness, because it is measurable, like the self-nature of what is cut, there is a non-contradictory harm, but we Madhyamikas do not cling to the two extremes of oneness and otherness, so we do not actually establish oneness and otherness, but you say that the cutter and what is cut are not otherness in reality, this is otherness.

Because it is desired to show that the extreme of permanence is not established, therefore it is said that the assertion of the Madhyamikas is established, this is the concluding statement. If oneness is established in convention, then there will be the fault of contradicting what is well-known, this means that if the Samkhyas establish in conventional terms that the cutter and the cut are one, then for the world, those two are known to be different, and you will have the fault of contradicting this. If, again, the meaning of the promise is distorted, and it is said that the goer and the going are not one, thus showing that the goer and the going are different, then there will be the fault of contradicting the promise, if one argues thus. If the Samkhyas distort the meaning of the promise made by the Madhyamikas, saying, 'Thus, the Madhyamikas have said that the goer and the going are not one, therefore it is shown that the goer and the going are different. If that is the case, then the Madhyamikas themselves have promised that the goer and the going are not different, so there will be the fault of contradicting the promise,' if one argues thus. That too has already been answered, which means that even though it was said before that the goer and the going are not one, it was not shown that those two are different, because it was shown that the Madhyamikas do not accept the meaning of negation without elimination, but do not accept the meaning of elimination, thus the answer has been given. Because those who wish to completely avoid the faults mentioned above, therefore, in order to refute the side that relies on otherness, the second promise is established, and it will be shown to be thoroughly established, which means that previously, in the ultimate sense, if the goer and the going were established, then it would necessarily become either oneness or otherness, but that is also unreasonable, thus establishing two promises, the first of which has already been thoroughly established. Now the second will be shown to be thoroughly established, thus connecting. If the collection of aggregates has separate and definite causes and conditions, then the arising of different natures, which are the basis of action, arising from the beginningless time, from the habits and seeds of elaboration, and from causes, is not true, because under the power of universal discrimination, there is uninterrupted birth in another place.
