That which is called "the absence of a cause for entering into a specific expression" is the opposite of the dharma. For example, a blind person lacks eye consciousness, can a blind person see? Like saying a blind person can see, a blind person will see, there is no cause for entering into a specific expression, this is an example of opposition. For example, a blind person lacks eye consciousness, because there is no dharma different from his own state, namely eye consciousness, so the object that does not possess eye consciousness, can a blind person see in the past? Can a blind person see now? Will he see in the future? There is no cause for entering into a specific expression. Walking is not like that, because the object that possesses the path of having gone, going, and not gone, which is a dharma different from the state of walking itself, can be said to have gone, is going, will go, because it possesses the cause for entering into the specific expression of the three times, therefore, one should know that walking exists. The object that possesses the dharma of having gone and going, which is different from the state of walking itself, has the cause for entering into a specific expression, this is the combination of close application. What are the causes for entering into a specific expression? Therefore, it is said that the place where it has entered is the path that has been gone, the place where it is entering is the path that is being gone, the place where it has not entered is the path that has not been gone. The place where walking has entered is the path that has been gone, therefore that place possesses the completion of walking, and is called the past time. The place where walking is entering is the path that is being gone, therefore that place possesses the entering of walking, and is called the present time. The place where walking has not yet entered is the path that has not been gone, therefore that place is where walking has not yet begun, and is called the future time. Because the object that possesses the dharma that is different from the state of walking itself can be said to have gone, is going, will go, and possesses the cause for entering into a specific expression, therefore, as has been said, by the power of the reasoning

Is it only because there is movement? Therefore, it is said, "The meaning of the occasion is accomplished." The initial view held by those who previously spoke of movement is that internal things are merely produced because they have names related to objects, and thus they are called "accomplished." In response to this statement, the commentator explains here: If the arising of movement exists, then the place that has already been entered is the place that has been gone, the place that is being entered is the place that is being traversed, and the place that has not been entered is the place that has not been gone. If such a change occurs, then movement also does not exist, and so on, it has already been shown. Because this has prevented the arising of all things, and it has already been shown that movement is unreasonable, therefore movement does not exist. The fact that movement changes from its own state to a factor that is related to things with special expressions itself exists, which shows that the meaning of the reason is not established. Even if movement exists, it should be refuted. Just as you say here, even if movement exists, it should be refuted. Regarding this, the three expressions of past, present, and future time that you speak of, namely the basis of movement—gone, traversing, and not gone—these three paths exist, therefore it proves the existence of movement, therefore these paths themselves should be examined. Therefore, here, the author of the treatise himself said: "Before the beginning of movement, where will movement begin, there is no traversing and no gone, where is the not-gone movement?" Before the beginning of movement, where movement will begin, there is no traversing and it is empty of movement, that is, before the beginning of movement, as long as movement is beginning, then where movement will begin, the present tense expression "traversing" does not exist, and it is empty of movement. Therefore, this shows that before the beginning of movement, the path of the present tense expression "traversing" into which movement previously entered does not exist, therefore movement does not exist. The gone is also non-existent, because it is unreasonable to be unrelated to movement, this is his intention.
